We talk about the change.

Talk about change is inherent to the road.

The poet already said:

“Life is a way, a wayfarer, there is no path, a path is made by walking”.

Let’s talk about change, identify yourself in the logo,

a person jumping, advancing

and yes it is true that we make a path in our life:

we start, we go through it, we cover stages.

It is not covered by all people equally.

There are three types of people,

we each have to know how we are and we can change between them.

There are the zombies, the tourists and the walkers.

Who are the zombies?

The zombies are those gray people, without illusions, without goals,

they just go where the dough goes, they feel dragged,

it is the mass man who persecutes the majority,

what I do? well what others do,

why? because others do it.

Then there is the tourist.

The tourist is something more cheerful, already has more spark,

but it does things for fashion.

It’s like that beautiful debate between tourist and traveler:

What is the traveler?

The traveler is the one who goes to the trip, enjoys each stage, wants to learn,

you want to put in position of the people who are there,

he wants to assimilate it, that is the traveler.

And the tourist, what is it?

The tourist is the one who is looking forward to go home with the photos

to teach the sister-in-law, the mother-in-law, the cousin, what she has been seeing.

He does not love the trip, but he loves what comes next.

That is the tourist. And then there is the walker.

The walker is the person who is aware that there is a path,

with their good days, their sad days, their happy days,

and that you have to do something and leave a deposit.

We can each choose in each moment of life

and in that way of overcoming

If you are a zombie, a tourist or a walker.

The people here are here, if you are here,

is that you are, or want to be at least, walkers.

I allowed myself to write a booklet, a decalogue

so that a normal person can become a walker.

1. You have to have goals, dreams.

The goals and dreams give you a reason.

A person without a reason is very complicated

that has the ambition, the fight, the clairvoyance.

The why is fundamental.

The goal, the dream, gives you north in life,

the compass guides you, it justifies you, it connects you.

Without a reason, without a goal or a dream, there is a risk of “horror vacui”.

2. A goal achieved, new goal.

We can never be without a goal.

You get one, there are absolute goals, partial goals.

“I want to finish the race”, it’s a goal.

But “I want to finish the race” would be good to insert it

in a bigger goal … “because I want to do well”

or “I want to study telecommunications

because I want to incorporate new technologies

to do good to others. “

Why is a powerful engine.

You have to have goals and once you have achieved you have to set new goals.

The “horror vacui” is the most dangerous,

what leaves the walker senseless and zombifies him.

New goals are not only combined with more and more,

they also combine with the different and with the best.

There are these types of attributes.

3. The goal has to motivate you but it can not crush you.

A goal has to demand,

It has to help you get the good out of you, you have to make an effort,

He has to make you sweat the shirt,

and therefore are not too comfortable goals,

but they can not crush you either.

I know many people

that absolutely impossible goals have been set.

The circumstances, their capacity, the environment, the moment,

and they have been crushed.

There is an intelligence that I will talk about later.

You have to have goals that motivate you, that make you sweat.

They are not worth the easy goals, they are not worth the comfortable ones,

You have to make an effort, but do not squash it.

Those goals, those dreams, you have to, ideally, and I’m going to make a redundancy,

combine them with certain ideals,

with certain motivation and beliefs, ideologies, all that kind of questions.

But ideals are an engine and a complement

beautiful and very important,

But you have to temper it, eh!

You have to temper them with respect to the other, to others, and with compassion.

In life, the most beautiful deeds, the wise, the heroes,

they have been people with some ideas, with an ideology,

who have followed it, have moved it.

But also the most atrocious crimes of humanity

have been made with people who had some ideas, an ideology,

and have followed, and followed, and followed.

For that reason [I think] in life we have to adjust, temper,

your own ideology, your beliefs, with respect for others and with compassion.

That makes, then yes, your own beliefs, your ideas,

do you and motivate you with great force

and there, between that sum of ideals, that sum of goal, of reality,

comes that nice saying that exists in the desert:

“Only one type of person can cross the desert with the difficulty:

is the one that goes step by step and from time to time

He looks up at the stars to get his bearings. “

People who only look at the stars hit each other,

There is a hole and they fall, that never fails.

People who only look at the ground are lost because they do not know where they are going,

they are looking at the ground and continue.

That is why we have to have that combination between the ideal and reality.

There is a point of wisdom that is very important:

You have to carry both things,

you have to have goals, stars, ideals, but you have to have your feet on the ground

and that balance is what allows the walker to advance and travel.

5. Happiness is not alone in crossing the goal.

It is not a walker that says: I only live to get that

and as long as I do not get it, I isolate myself from life,

I only work, I only see, I only use,

what can help me achieve that goal.

Happiness should not be alone at the goal.

The wise man, the walker,

He knows how to find happiness every day of the journey,

Your little things, your little joys, what you can enjoy along the way.

You see it, the walker is the person who, even in harsh circumstances,

because life is like that, it comes white, it comes black,

it comes with sun, it comes with rain, it comes with heat, it comes with cold,

the walker knows that happiness is not in the goal, but is on the way.

The important thing is not the goal.

The goal is what justifies the way.

The important thing is the way

and you have to know how to find happiness on that path.

6. The difficulties will appear, the pain will appear,

the conflict will appear to us, and we have to face it,

and you have to know that it is part of the way.

The walker knows that it will appear and must be managed.

Pain humanizes us.

Notice that the classics said that pain is the anvil of the wise.

What does that mean?

That a person, to understand others,

become wiser, you must have suffered,

It is becoming more wise.

We live in the knowledge society, as you know.

Knowledge is very weighted, and it is true,

The more you know, the better.

I, to knowledge, I have a lot of respect.

But knowledge also has its limitations.

Ultimately, knowledge is a volitional capacity.

For those of us who study law, volitional, what does it mean?

At will

I want to learn about a topic, I read a book.

I want to learn more? I read two books,

I go to a conference and I see a TED talk.

I can acquire knowledge.

Any of us here can have knowledge.

So it is carpentry: we do it, we nail,

We make the structure of knowledge that we want.

Wisdom no. Wisdom is not carpentry.

Wisdom is alchemy.

What does it mean? That is not entirely within our reach,

that entails an essential distillation where we put the retort of the road,

for knowledge, of course, experience, common sense

and above all, understanding the other, understanding the human soul,

that is the differential factor

and that’s why you need the university of pain

and also the university of failure in life,

and the university of the effort.

Only then can you become wise.

Also on the way appears the conflict, the dilemma.

Who is free of conflict, who throws the first stone.

The walker knows that the conflict has energy,

It makes us suffer, it hurts, it burns us.

If you have studied physics you already know the second principle of thermodynamics:

Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it simply transforms.

Therefore, when we have a conflict,

We know that the future that is coming will not be the same as what happened.

There is an energy there, you can not stop it, you can not freeze it.

That energy transforms.

You already know that energy is the capacity for transformation, for movement, for moving.

We have to make that energy work for us.

Once you manage to pass a level of conflict and pass to the next

It will happen to you that the conflict that embittered you a few years ago,

or when we were younger, or when we started,

Once you have managed to overcome it, you see it as an easy thing.

When a young person comes to you, who is starting,

who is suffering from that same conflict,

you see it easily, why?

Well because, as physics says,

the quantos of energy have exceeded that level of energy.

Therefore, as a sixth point,

we must incorporate pain and conflict because they make us wise,

and they make us give those great opportunities.

We talk about changes, and the great changes in life

they occur after conflicts, after crisis and after pain,

because they have energy and are transforming energies.

Let us use those energies to create, to raise

and do not let them squash us.

7th Let’s travel the road with the compass of our intelligence,

the staff of talent and the boots of tenacity.

Intelligence and talent are associated.

Even in the dictionary they appear as practically synonymous faculties.

They are not the same.

Very briefly, intelligence is the ability of people

to achieve a goal, achieve an objective, solve a problem.

They are able to create alternatives and choose the most appropriate one.

Intelligence is demonstrated by choosing, making decisions.

Talent is the ability to do something especially well.

A person who does something especially well has talent.

Both faculties, in one part are native,

today there are people who have native abilities, and to a large extent they are

with the effort, with the experience, with the will, making way.

Therefore, it is born and is made.

The walker has to combine the two circumstances:

talent and intelligence

The intelligence to decide which fork of the road to take,

which is very important

and the talent to do it effectively and do it well.

And the boot of tenacity, which is the effort.

Nobody is going to give us anything, take the path you take.

We must, within the joy that said, strive, work and achieve it.

The road will offer us many bifurcations, continuously:

I have to take this or take this.

Any decision has a cost:

in an organization of people, in the company, in politics …

you already know that, although today it allows us more matrix structures,

but basically, as in life or in society, it has a pyramidal structure

One of the criteria of people’s glass roofs

It is the level of decision, the tension they have to decide.

There are people who give them stress,

and not only for the hours they work, which also, or not, I do not know,

Give them the decision,

because they are afraid of failure, they are afraid to make the decision,

because any decision always has a cost.

In fact, you, as you go up in an organization,

every time you do less and decide more.

In a company or a board of directors,

the one above does nothing, or decides: strategy, finances, clients,

is the most paid position, the most important, if you allow me,

all are important, and the least is, why?

Because life is a path where the decision factor has a lot of weight.

Think of your life:

I, my thesis, each one has a capacity for talent, for work, for tenacity,

and we’re wearing it.

Our life has been much more marked by the decisions we have taken

how we have been doing each of those decisions.

You are, I am, much more what you have decided and what I have decided

How I did it, or how you did it.

To do it is very important, this is a bit provocative,

that’s why decisions have to be made, they can not be zombies,

you have to be consistent with your goal and consistent

because it is going to mark you a lot more life, the decision you make,

How do you regulate it and how do you do it later?

9th The road changes and we will have unexpected, surprises.

The ecosystem changes,

We went from the mountain to the valley, from summer to winter.

Look at the cold we’ve been through,

we came from a temperate weather and we will reach 40ºC in the summer,

and the walker knows that you have to adapt.

The strongest does not survive, but the one that adapts best.

And there are two types of adaptation:

that of the cork that floats, adapts, but lets itself be carried by the current.

And that of the walker, who knows how to adapt but always looking for the air that takes you

where you want to go and how you want to be.

The strongest does not survive, the one who adapts best survives.

It is a Darwinian biological reality.

Look 70 or 80 million years ago

that the Tyrannosaurus rex was the animal that dominated the planet,

the great ferocious dinosaur, the terror of the creation of living beings.

Just then the shrew, the first known mammal, appeared.

an insignificant little mouse, timid, tremulous, there, walking.

If we had a time machine and we got there

we would see the colossus, we would see the insignificance

And what would we say?

Mouse, little mouse, you have no future.

The beast is going to stomp on you and kaput, c’est fini, game over, finished.

However, the times changed,

the dinosaur, it will be a meteorite, it will be the atmosphere,

we do not know very well what it was,

he did not know how to adapt, he could not adapt to the circumstances

and the mammal adapted,

and we are the culmination until today

of that lineage of mammals that was born with the shrew.

The strongest did not survive, the one who adapts best survives.

10th and last. We do not walk alone.

We walk with other people who accompany us.

We have to learn to work in a team.

We have to learn to be generous.

We have to understand that part of our happiness

is to help make others happy.

Part of the happiness we get to contribute to others

it is the happiness itself that we are going to take.

You are walkers. We have a long way to go with its lights and shadows.

Being here today fills us with encouragement, I hope some wisdom

and I can only wish you a lot of luck on your way,

that is beautiful and, above all, fruitful.

Many thanks.

(Applause)
