Inspiration, the leap to follow your dreams | Yvonne Botchey | TEDxAccraWomen

I have always been a man who seeks inspiration in everything.

In fact, I use inspiration as a direction indicator,

who helps me to follow and achieve my dreams.

When I was younger,

I recorded my inspired thoughts,

moments of inspiration and sources of inspiration

in my diaries, study books, and in the list of my life plans.

I found inspiration in quite different spheres and countless unique sources.

Learning and searching for knowledge was and remains

my constant and reliable source of inspiration.

I love learning new things.

So much that when I learn something new,

I’m inspiring to learn more and more.

Music is also a source of inspiration.

Listen to music, dance under her rhythm

is essential to both my life and my well-being.

Sometimes when I listen to certain songs,

they can serve as a catalyst for an important change in my life.

When I first heard the first hip hop soul songs

and the debut single by Mary J Blige, “You remind me”

(Backstage)

– Let’s hear her, hear her! –

(Musical background, singing accompaniment)

I wanted to sing, but I could not.

When I first heard this song,

it has transformed and inspired me.

I deviate from the subject.

In my later years I was inspired by the importance of time.

How valuable and how easy we can lose it,

leading life into denial of our happiness.

Many of us fall into a matrix where they are not happy,

in which they do not live the lives of their dreams.

When you realize this, I recommend:

catch the flashes, turn away from the road,

which prevents you from living the lives of your dreams.

But how do you do it?

How do you make this change?

How to get away from the road?

I will share with you some tips that have helped me personally.

Tip 1: find out.

Discover what you want to change.

Discover what your dream is.

This is a very, very important step,

which requires you to perform self-esteem, soul searching and time of peace.

In our everyday life we are surrounded by so much external noise,

which prevents us from establishing a meaningful relationship

with our inner dreams and our inner spiritual essences.

Take some time and create space to make this meaningful connection.

In my case, meditation is the most effective.

Tip 2: Plan.

Once you have discovered or reconnected with your dream,

create a plan how you will achieve it.

Your plan can be very detailed or very simple.

In my case, I am a person of plans by nature,

make a list after list after list.

That is why my plans are quite detailed;

but in others, the plan may be the dream itself.

Whatever the nature of your plan,

should be something that works for you yourself.

Tip 3: Focus on one step at a time.

Sometimes when we are faced with

a serious change of life or a frightening task,

we can feel crushed by the scale of the task.

You do not allow this to happen.

Focus on each step.

Break your dream into very small elements.

Focus on a single element; run it.

Note that you are ready with it and go to the next one.

Run it.

Note that it is complete.

Then on the next, the next, and the next.

And before you feel,

your dream, which at first seemed to you unachievable,

is already a reality.

Tip 4: Enjoy the road.

Once you have made the decision to live your life fully,

you have found your dream,

you made your plan,

you are focusing step by step at any moment;

the adventure can begin.

You’ve been on a journey,

where you will have new experiences,

who will experience you, will challenge you

and most importantly, they will inspire you.

Do not forget to enjoy the trip.

Enjoy the process and the steps to achieving your dream.

Tip 5: Be positive.

Probably there will be moments along the way that will challenge you to the bottom of your soul,

will make you ask, yes, ask

whether it’s worth watching this dream.

At these times, stay positive.

Do not deviate from following your dreams.

Look for the ray of hope in everything.

Do not let negativism or negative thoughts get you.

Tip 6: Surround yourself with positive and supportive people.

Positive attitude is extremely important in life.

You can build this attitude yourself.

Yes it is.

But to maintain a positive attitude

and increase your ability to stay positive,

it is very important to be surrounded by positive people,

who support you in following your dreams.

Do not waste, do not really waste your time with negative people.

You can not win any of their negativity.

In fact, they can get you out of the way to achieving your dreams.

Tip 7: Choose happiness.

I believe happiness is a matter of choice.

Every day we are faced with opportunities

to choose whether to be happy or unhappy.

Some people experience joy

to despair, to complain.

I encourage you to look for the greater joy,

which brings the choice of happiness.

In some situations, choosing to be happy can be a difficult choice.

But you have to make that choice.

We have to say that conducting a full and happy life

is not a destination.

It’s the way.

We, as human beings, are dynamic, complex, ever changing,

That is why a full and happy life for you in 20 years

can be anything very, very different to 30, 40, 50, and so on.

So it’s never too late to start living the life of your dreams.

Citing the legendary author, CS Lewis:

“You’re never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream.”

I can not promise you it will be easy.

Live the life of your dreams, work to achieve them

can be difficult.

The fear itself can paralyze you.

But the reward is so sweet,

that when you live your life fully,

you will consider the time you have spent in another way completely lost.

So you have to leave your area of comfort, just get out of it,

and jump to your dreams.

It is time.

I finish with one of my favorite quotes from one of my heroines:

Dr. Maya Angelo.

Although she is no longer among us, her words continue to inspire us:

“My mission in this life is not just to survive but to bloom;

to live

with a pinch of passion, a pinch of compassion,

pinch of humor and pinch style. “

(Applause)

When you live your life fully, you are blooming.

It is time to live your life fully.
