How to Be Happy Every Day: It Will Change the World | Jacqueline Way | TEDxStanleyPark

Translator: hala gh Checker: Riyad Almubarak

I have the hardest work on the planet

I am a mother

(Applause) (Cheers)

Yeah! Yeah!

I am the mother of three active children

Who magically believe I am a doctor

Baker, trainer, cooker, therapist

I have the patience of a saint for 24/7.

I do my best

Some days are certainly better than others,

Especially with regard to being a Sabra as a saint.

I want as some parents want their children.

I want them to have a happy childhood.

I want to have the freedom to play,

To be friendships, to be gentle gentlemen, merciful and happy.

But there seems to be a small challenge.

Said the World Happiness Report

In another time

That more than 220 million children

And one billion

Suffering from anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorder

This is not a beautiful picture of happy people on Happy Planet.

Unfortunately, whether you are a parent or not,

This is what the boys learn from us.

We are busy every day

They feel nervous

They know our struggle to look for our happiness

How can you move from depression to happiness?

Some good news.

The World Happiness Report also states

The best guide is if the child is satisfied

Be through their emotional health in their childhood.

If I have the right, it will be easy.

Happy Children, Happy Boys, Happy Planet.

(Laughter)

This is the real lesson you learned from my father

When I was a little girl

Growing up in a big city in London, Ontario

Every Christmas morning

My father and my three brothers accompany me to his office

My father was a doctor and his office was in the hospital.

Our work was to stand next to the sick beds

To sing Christmas hymns.

We started with the same songs every time

My father was the squad leader

Maybe it’s a precedent for TEDx, so join me

(Sings) We wish you a glorious birthday, wish you a glorious birthday

We wish you a glorious birthday and a happy new year

(Stop singing)

(Cheers) (Applause)

You are amazing, young people

I will sing to you all this year

(Laughter)

Look at your smiles

We did it every morning

Those sick, they sang with us,

As you just did.

And their smiles were shining in the hospital rooms.

This is what you learned from our songs.

Give back to those sick,

Make them happy as I am

We have all heard that

Giving makes you happy and it is better to give than to take.

But have you thought about why?

Well, researchers from all over the world

They studied the science and methodology of giving.

And they discovered

That our minds and bodies are ready to give

When we give this affects the endorphins

It gives us a high and natural feeling

This is called high help

Oxygen levels rise, it’s the hormone of love.

As for you

Looking for a young source,

It is natural treatment against aging.

I felt this when I was volunteering with my father,

It is the serotonin carrier of happiness.

This makes it better.

Decreases the proportion of cortisone

It is the stress hormone.

Reduces stress and anxiety and makes us happy.

What if I told you,

You can be happy every day,

A 3 year old child can do it.

Well, on Nick’s third birthday,

I decided to let him be happy every day.

To teach him to give.

I put the idea on the cake and ice cream,

We will start with a family full of fun together.

We will be given to the world every day for a year.

Now I waited to see the enthusiasm on my face

The enthusiasm I felt

Instead, he asked me how many days a year?

(Laughter)

The answer I was looking for was not,

But Nick was 3 years old

The idea of daily giving is different

I still have a box of paper and crayons,

And began again:

“Nick, to be gentle, loving, and laid-back

Man, animal, or planet

Every day for 365 days. “

When I shared this idea with friends and family,

They thought that if I could say it, I was tempted

I will give the world every day for 365 days

With a 3 year old child.

I agree with you, it seems exhausting,

It’s also when you start with something simple every time

We and Nick started the list to pay us to continue

It should be easy and close to home

Donating towels and blankets to the animal shelter

We pick up garbage, we re-industrialize

Give clothes to the donation center and continue the menu

Well, Nick continued quickly

He became enthusiastic

He was already enthusiastic

He wanted to start on his birthday

The first stop

In the local animal shelter to donate towels and blankets

When we entered the shelter

Shock you right away

Dogs smell and antiseptic

We could hear dogs barking

We knew they were locked in cages

He handed the towels and blanket to a nice lady sitting behind the desk

I smiled and thanked us for our donation

When we left

Notice two glass doors leading to a room full of cats

He returned to the glass and scrabbled

He returned to me saying:

“Mom, can you see the sleeping cats on the red cover?

Can our coverage be theirs?

He returned to the gentle lady and said: “Do you bet”

Now you can see how Nick’s mind works

He was connecting events

That his daily work will help those cats

Nick learned that from day one

He returned to smiling, saying:

“Awesome Mom”

This tender make it happy

The next day we went to the beach for fun and playing in the sun

How much garbage can we pick up in three minutes

This is important for a 3-year-old

(Laughter)

On the third day we sorted garbage

At maturity, Nick learns about remanufacturing

Well the daily tender has become a habit for Nick

As is the cleaning of teeth

Let’s think about it

It will be easier if we teach a child of three

More than cleaning the teeth on a daily basis

He asked me if we could share our daily work

With our friends and family

So they can continue to work

It was the first day

I started with a note entitled “Tender for 365”

You know

I am not a writer on social media

Can you imagine how surprised you were?

When people other than my friends and family began to read the Code

They began to read and interact from all over the world

Send emails and leave comments about their daily food stories

Because they were inspired by Nick

In fact I was enthusiastic and I share some of them today

Henry wrote from London England

“I met this homeless man on my way to work

Today I brought him breakfast

Very grateful

From now on I will do this work every day “

Show me from Uganda

I called four children living near the house to lunch today

The kids were happy to eat the meal

They felt for the first time in a long time that someone was interested in them “

Amy from Australia

“I am a fourth grade teacher

I started this idea every day in my class. “

I was surprised one by one

Can this idea reach a row?

I did not know, I’m just a mother

It is destiny,

I received a call from my friend Sarah.

She is a teacher at a local junior high school

“Jacqueline,

I want to convey the principle of tender 365 to my class

In fact, to the whole school. “

Both of us were excited, we went to work.

We started preparing an educational program,

A way for teachers to integrate and apply the idea of giving daily,

With their curriculum,

We called it the 365 Challenge

It is very special

Because children run it.

Choose what they want to be given,

They support and influence the world in the ways they choose

We started at Sarah School,

I was excited to hear how the children would be given.

Several weeks in the challenge

I went down

I interviewed the second grade students aged 7 years

When I entered their row,

I was not sure who was more enthusiastic,

I am the mother of children.

Armand was the first,

He waved his hand enthusiastically

He did not wait to tell me

About the pastries they prepared

Which they sent to the local oven

They thanked firefighters for all their work.

Arman was smiling proudly

Next was Mia

Mia’s cousin suffered from cancer that year,

Children have full grade,

They decided to come and sell the popcorn at school

They made $ 252 in a certain period

They donated it to support children infected with tuberculosis

The reason that made me cry

Because I did not imagine

That my project with my son

May be confusing to many.

This is what their mentor, Ms. Story, told me,

“Jackie, my children

They know that their actions can make the world a better place

I brought them together and with their community

More importantly, my class has become a happy place. “

This challenge has reached 5,000 children in 25 schools

We have just begun.

(Cheers) (Applause)

thank you.

(Cheers) (Applause)

Share their stories with other children,

We have made a sequential step

To their families and communities around the world

I challenge the kids but actually prepared for all of us,

No matter where you live or what you do or how old you are.

Imagine we all did this work

We started with one child giving each day

Daily bid for 3645

We shared and arrived here

With all of you

Let’s share each person in the room,

More than 2,000 people give daily for 365

That’s more than 700,000

No longer just one child

With all of us

We make a better world happier,

It’s a simple thing a 3-year-old can do

Usually daily as a dental cleanser

Put your list today,

Look at your life, your world, your family, your day

Do what pleases you

Donate, volunteer, help neighbor, be nice to the stranger

We change from anxiety and depression to happiness,

With some we can start with small things,

To make the world better and happier

Bid once a day

(Applause) (Cheers)

Yeah! Yeah!
