Pathogens are the main factor in the presence of infectious diseases

Which killed humans over the past centuries.

Until the decontamination, vaccination and antibiotics have eliminated these causes

And provided us with a long and healthy life.

But now we spend nearly half of our lives suffering from these chronic diseases,

Which have no cure in the near future.

So today, I will share some revolutionary ideas

How to prevent, adapt and treat these diseases.

This idea is based on the rhythm of the biological clock,

24-hour rhythm.

To adjust to the daytime nighttime system, or the daily frequency on our planet,

Almost all plants and animals have this daily system

Which is controlled by what we call the biological clock.

They are already integrated into DNA, which is very fundamental to the forms of life on our planet

So much so that if we move any animal or person from this planet to another planet

It has the same life conditions as the Earth

But the cycle of night and day differs from the planet,

We will not be able to survive easily.

Recognizing the importance and impact of the biological clock on human health,

This year’s Nobel Prize was awarded to three distinguished scientists in this field.

I have the honor that these three have inspired me and have directly influenced my research.

So how do we know that these clocks are built into us?

For example, if you stay inside an apartment without knowing the outside time,

The biological clock will make me go to sleep around 10pm.

I will enter the deep sleep phase at 2 am, and wake up wake up,

My body will start to warm up around 4:00 am.

Once waking up, the hormone “melatonin” will fall,

The hormone “cortisol” will start to rise.

The brain will be at its peak in the mid-afternoon.

It will be my physical activity in the afternoon.

By the evening, the biological clock will start releasing melatonin

To help me sleep, my body temperature starts to drop to facilitate the sleep process.

This will continue every 24 hours, even if you are separate from the outside world.

These rhythms occur because each gene we have in the human genome

Works and stops working at different times throughout the day.

All hormones and chemicals in the brain go up and down at different times of the day.

So keeping these rhythms means staying healthy.

When those rhythms break down,

At night during the night to spend some tasks or to take care of a family member,

We will feel very tired the next day.

If we continue to change the habits of the biological clock over the weeks and months,

Then we will be vulnerable to all those chronic diseases.

It is therefore very important to know how these biological clocks work

So we can take care of them better.

As you imagine,

Our brains also have a biological clock that regulates sleep and wake up every day,

The same biological clock sends chemical signals to the rest of the body.

But it is really amazing that almost every member of our bodies,

Even every cell inside our bodies has its own biological clock.

what does that mean?

Means that it also makes us a biological brain clock more efficient

In solving complex problems in the middle of the day.

The brain also need to sleep at night,

Each member at a certain time of day is at the height of his performance.

Every member needs to sleep and rest to regain his energy.

If all these biological clocks work together to give us daily rhythms during sleep,

Metabolic processes, mood and even intestinal bacteria.

But how do these clocks relate to the outside world?

In fact, every morning when you wake up,

Light enters our eyes and resets or synchronizes this clock,

So when the time changes to daylight saving time, or when you move from one time zone to another,

The light synchronizes all of our biological clocks to the new time or time zone.

But the light property that resets our biological clocks is different.

Fifteen years ago, we discovered a new protein that senses the blue light called the protein “Milanopicin.”

It is present only in 5,000 neurons in the retina.

These light-sensitive neurons are connected to the biological brain clock,

Thus the biological clock of the entire body.

These cells have an interesting property.

It is less sensitive to light, especially orange colored light.

This means that during the night we move under candlelight or a faint orange light,

The melanobsin is inactive, sending a signal to the brain that the place is dark

The biological clock of the brain produces a lot of melatonin

And the time we get a sleep is quiet.

During the day and when waking up and going outside for at least an hour.

Daylight is very rich in blue light which activates the hormone melanopsin,

Which synchronizes the biological clock of the brain throughout the day,

It reduces drowsiness and depression and increases activity.

But the problem is that we spend 90 percent of our time indoors.

In the evening, the screens and bright lights activate melanospin hormone,

Sends signals confused brain, and believes the brain at the time that the night has not yet resolved,

It releases a small amount of melatonin, causing disturbed sleep.

When we wake up the next day and spend most of our time indoors,

Since the light inside is not rich in blue light,

Sends signals back to the brain,

Which makes the brain think that the day has not yet started.

So all the chemicals that should enhance our mood have not been produced enough.

Which makes us suffer continuously from insomnia and confusion,

If this continues for weeks or months, we will be vulnerable to many diseases.

Interestingly, this is especially important for children

Because their brains are still in development.

When children in early childhood are exposed to a biological clock disorder,

They will be more vulnerable to ADHD and autism.

So this simple idea, which indicates our need for exposure to blue light during the day

To dim light or dark during the night,

The new lighting revolution began.

We began to take note of the manifestations of that new revolution

When the smartphone and computer screen turns orange at night.

But there is still a lot to offer.

There is a dynamic lighting system in care centers and schools

Will promote the healthy development of the brain and promote learning.

Dynamic lighting at home, factories, offices,

Will enhance vigilance and improve productivity.

Dynamic lighting in hospitals and nursing homes for the elderly

Will promote health and speed up the healing process.

In fact, there is now a dynamic lighting system

In the International Space Station to enhance the productivity of astronauts

And help them get a restful sleep.

Light is not the only factor affecting the biological clock.

In fact, as the light during the middle of the night

The biological clock of the brain is disturbed and the balance of chemicals in it is disturbed,

Eating at the wrong time worries the peripheral biological clock

And interferes with the metabolism within our bodies, which puts us at risk of diseases.

Now let’s find out.

In the morning our stomach is ready

With the proper amount of hormones and digestive enzymes,

And even good bowel microbes.

So after we had breakfast,

The body absorbs enough carbohydrates that help us during the day.

At the same time it stores some nutrients such as fat.

This process continues after eating meals and dinner.

After dinner, the body begins to absorb carbohydrates less.

At the same time, the biological clock burns the morning fat.

A few hours later,

The biological clock turns into a reset and reform system.

This means that the enzymes will begin to metabolize cholesterol and toxins.

They also turn into DNA repair mechanisms that have been damaged during the day.

Many stomach lining cells and damaged skin lining are replaced by new healthy cells

So that bacteria and chemicals can not penetrate into the body.

After abstaining from eating for 12 to 16 hours,

By breakfast, the feeding and regeneration cycle continues.

But imagine if we delayed late night dinner.

In this case, the daily rhythm of metabolism will become weak.

There is not enough time to burn fat, cholesterol, toxins, and so on.

Therefore, the person who takes his meals within ten hours

The rhythm of his biological watch will be better, from a person eating his meals over the course of 15 hours.

To test this theory, we went back to our old lab and brought in two similar sets of mice

Of the same parents and of the same age and grew up in the same place.

The first group of mice applied the Western diet to eat food at any time,

The second group of rats was trained to eat the same number of calories from the same food,

But they eat within 8 to 12 hours of the night.

We weighed the food and weighed the mice carefully

Each week for approximately 18 weeks.

By the end of 18 weeks,

The first group of mice suffered from obesity,

At the same time, they were infected by various diseases, they were really sick,

While the second group of mice were completely healthy.

But most surprising: when we took sick mice

We applied the same diet and the same calories,

And ate food within 8 to 12 hours, they became healthy.

This was a defining moment for us in research,

Because for the first time in the history of nutrition science,

We discovered that the date of eating is as important as the amount and quality of food eaten.

Well, how can we apply that to humans?

The first thing we wanted to know, when people eat their food?

To do that, we started a new study …

The volunteers enrolled in this study on mycircadianclock.org …

And because people like to take pictures,

We asked them to film all their food and drink,

We will do the rest.

When the pictures started to come to us, we arranged them in a timeline

So it is easy for us to know the dates of eating.

They continued to take pictures for about two or three weeks.

So we can record their food habits during the days and weekends.

You may notice that this person eats very randomly during the day.

If you look at the pattern during the days and weekends,

It also appears randomly.

If you combine weekdays with weekends,

Another interesting thing appears.

This person appears to be on the east coast of America on weekdays

And goes to the West Coast on the weekend,

Which is very bad for our biological clock.

Now, if we collect all these data and draw it as if we were looking at an hour,

We will find out that this person was eating all day long.

In fact, it is not an individual case,

Looking at the first 150 volunteers,

Approximately 50 percent of adults with 5 to 8 regular jobs,

Eat for 15 hours or more.

That means, when you eat your first meal at seven in the morning,

It will be the last meal or another glass of wine at 9 pm or later.

The interesting thing is that mice fed us a healthy diet,

And ate food for 15 hours or more,

They will suffer from obesity and various diseases.

That is why we wanted to ask a simple question.

We asked people who ate for 15 hours and were infected with obesity,

We asked them to eat what they wanted within 10 hours of their choice,

And we followed what would happen to them.

Within 3 to 4 months,

Enhance the rhythm of their biological clock and lose part of their excess weight.

Over the past year, thousands of people around the world have participated

In the study through our website or relied on themselves.

They tried to eat within 8 to 11 hours.

After committing themselves to several weeks,

They were struck by the ability of the biological clock to heal.

Almost all of them lost part of their weight,

They continued to feel much better and were more active throughout the day.

Sleep well at night, improve their mood and become permanently energetic.

Over the months, I have suffered from abdominal, heart and immune system diseases,

Diabetes and even some mental illness.

So we are excited about this study,

At the same time, we learned something very important

Let me share it with you.

The biological clock affects the efficiency of most of the medicines we eat for different diseases.

Which means that taking medication at certain times can enhance its effectiveness

Eating it at the wrong times can expose us to severe side effects as if it were a SAMA.

This is therefore important.

The effect is not limited to drugs,

But on time to take flu vaccination

Time to conduct heart or liver operations,

Even cancer patients treated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy,

The duration of treatment sessions, whether in the morning or in the afternoon, has an impact on the effectiveness of treatment

So with this new information about the biological clock

We expect a revolution in care and healthy habits.

Because the current idea of health care

Monitor calories or count the steps out of date.

And the same programs and tools that we use every day

Causing us a lack of sleep and making us eat throughout the day could be used for a better purpose

We can use devices and sensors to provide a dynamic lighting system around us.

Our biological clock sensors can monitor every day

And its interaction with the outside world.

The devices can tell us what and when to eat to enhance the rhythm of the biological clock.

There may be smart drugs and programmed drug pumps

Provide the right medicine and the appropriate doses at the appropriate time,

Even if the medication is available during sleep, it will help us recover faster.

So I think the biological clock has untapped potential

To prevent, manage and treat many chronic diseases affecting millions of people

thank you.

(Applause) (Cheers)

thank you.
