We have already shown you how to make your own foundry by using a metal bucket and iKayo wool
This worked great. We used it for a lot of different projects and today
we will try to improve it and build a larger foundry by means of this larger one
11 liter trash, The idea is that we keep our metal trash can the heat easily
but heat well and let the heat escape easily in the air, therefore we have this stuff named kayo Wool
That is a pretty good guide, keep the heat well inside. you can actually hold a flame on one side and
keep your hand next to the other side and you do not feel anything at all
I do not even think it’s hot after that
so that’s the plan, we outline the whole box with the Kayo wool, so have the metal container
that contains everything and the kayo wool keeps the heat inside. Now we know what we are going to do
let’s start, some more information about the Kayo Wool
it is a stringy material, and resembles fiberglass
so it is corrosive when it comes to your skin
and especially when you breathe it in, so I’m going to wear a dust mask and I wear this long-sleeved shirt
so that my arms do not itch.
hopefully keep me from bothering too many wires. To begin
I want to put a line on the bottom of the trash
I put the tray on top of the cable and then I align it, I cut out that circle and
that goes at the bottom of our bin
we have cut out our circle. Now we just push that down in the bin
now the Kayo wall is down in the trash, which will be very good
but it is not a very stable surface if we support it
we have a compressed ceramic fiber board that would work as a stable surface
it is a kind of board that is well-managed and because it is rough
it would be better to get up than just the Kayo Wool
I’m probably going to cut this in a little bit because the bottom is just
a little bit bigger than the inner bottom of the bin
what I expect. So we have a little bit of slack
if I cut it smaller, but that is better than it is too big and then not fit
Ok, here is a circle that looks good. check if it fits
ah, it is perfect!
very good, a nice flat surface
that is much better than trying to balance things on the unstable Kayo Wool
I’m trying to figure out how much cable I need
I put the whole role in the bucket and
then I roll it in the sides as much as I can, and I mark where I want to cut it
I will start with it
in there
to press him nicely against the sides
Of course the trash can not be a perfect cylinder, so it is a bit wider at the top and bottom
I try to deal with that
ok, I’m going to take my marker and mark it
I give myself some extra so that I can trim it off later if I fine-tune it without losing all the weight of the extra cables
in the way
and because the trash can is a bit crooked
Ideally our Kayo Wool would have a small bow at the edges
we are going to imitate it a bit by cutting a side with a small bow
and I think it will go well
so I did the rough cut earlier
Now I am going to see if I am
that get a bit more refined, you can see that the edges go over each other
this is where there is a side so I mark that, and the other is here
and again
I give me a little extra because it is better to overlap than there are holes in it
Ok, look at how we did it. Well it overlaps a little bit
what is what I said, not a big problem. Just push and pull. That looks good
most of the bucket is lined so now we cut a lot with the good size for our lid
I am curious if a knife works better than a pair of scissors. so I’m going to try that and I’ll see if I think it’s better
as you can, I leave an inch big gap
that is the same as what we did with our smaller foundry
because if we press it in the lid we have a little pressure on it and it helps to keep it there
if that worked
hmm, I do not think it compresses enough with the extra edge I left on it
this lid has an interesting shape. There is a piece that runs from the edge
I think that by adding an extra inch to what was already added by the lip, my cable is now too big to fit
in the inside of the circle
so I’m going to crop it a little bit where I marked it and see if it fits better
Ok, now we have our slightly smaller circle. Let’s see if that fits in the lid. Oh yeah
that is exactly what you want
it is pushed in a bit, but it is not too tight so that it does not fit
but it is big enough that it keeps some pressure inside
hey, that’s what we hoped for, and let’s try to do it on our bucket
nice that would be one
must be isolated trash now
we have insulated the walls and the lid with the insulating cable and for now it keeps itself tight
but with our mini foundry
when it got warm and cool again and again chilled again and again, the Kayo Wool
lost some of its stiffness, that’s why I have some hardware
and I’m going to use it so that we can attach the wool to the lid and the sides of the tray, so that we’re in the future
we do not have that problem
the machine screw I use here is a bit longer than I need so I’ll probably replace it later
that would keep him nice. I will do the same in three places on the lid
it does not matter how much structural integrity the Kayo Wool loses, it would hold itself well, it is well fixed
now we have a well-insulated trash can, but no way to heat it
we drill some holes in the side and the lid so that we have a place for the Propane heat to enter
and for some ventilation to go out
I’m going to try to make holes in the large foundry at the same height as the mini foundry
so that the wooden blocks that we used for the support of the burners also work at the same height
plus, if we have something at the bottom of the foundry we know that it gets the heat it needs
Well that goes smoothly
it seems that a whole saw is not the best tool to cut through very thin steel
but it is what I have so let’s try it on the other side
that actually went almost perfectly
ok, as an experiment, let’s see what happens when you use an entire saw on Kayo Wool
still not perfect but much better
With those holes added, I think we have our large foundry ready to test with heat
I am concerned that the distance between the hose and this has been designed with the mini foundry in mind
and I am not
Positive they will stretch far enough to really get in the corner as we want them on the big garbage can. We will see what we can do
to do
Okay, I’ve angled them both slightly
But as you can see, the snake is pulled very tightly
And I do not think it will cause problems for our test
But we probably want to add a little extra hose before we use this foundry for an extensive amount of combustion
* Whooo *
That gets toasty quick
You can see that the burners are not as slanted as they should be, partly because our hose is not long enough
So while it warms up properly. It is not real
Just as often circling as we want, let’s put the lid on and let this thing get really hot
Ah, that’s nice and warm when the fire is not going, but it’s still really hot
Inside there you go, that’s how you can make a large-scale foundry in the backyard. There are a few different things
We are thinking about trying this foundry. It is clearly much larger than our normal foundry in the backyard
Let’s do a few more things with it
We will be able to place a large melting pot and we can also try to bake some ceramics in this Forge
I also took some of our remaining cable and refocused the mini oven
And I was impressed with how easy it is to do that, it only took me a few minutes to completely replace the liner
Is a great little oven that you can build and use and when the Kayo wool gets so old it will fall apart
It is very easy in just a few minutes
I am really looking forward to trying out some experiments with our large foundry to see what it really can do
Thank you for coming to us for this project and we’ll see you in the next one. Do you speak?
It looks like a Captain America shield and this is just like a captain-cotton shield
not a very good shield
Hey guys. I hope you have a great day. You are great
You are appreciated and I know that everyone in my team is really grateful to you
Thank you very much for choosing to view and support our videos. We’ll see you in the next one
