How To Make A Super Secret Safe – For Less Than $3

If you are looking for a safe place to keep something important,

then the logical place would be a safe.

But it is probably just as obvious to the thieves who want to steal your things.

Sometimes the best place to hide something is the place where people least expect it.

So in this project we make a super secret storage space that only you know.

For this project you need one of these extra long flush-mounted boxes,

that are made for existing walls.

You also need an empty wall plate, like this one.

Now look for an empty space in your house on the wall. Use a beam finder to find a spot between the bars.

If you have found a spot, measure the height of the electrical outlet nearby

and add 12,7mm.

Put the lower left corner against your mark and draw a line around the box.

This is the place where you will cut into the wall.

Now paste an envelope under the marking and choose the tool that you will cut into the wall.

You can see that if you start cutting, the envelope will catch all the dust.

This reduces the mess that you would have to clean up later.

It is important that you cut carefully and shallowly,

because there may be electrical wires behind the wall.

And you do not want to cut it off accidentally.

If you have cut everything out, your box could fit perfectly and come right with the wall.

If you adjust the screws in the corner,

you can see that the flap clips the box tightly against the wall.

Now you can fill your safe with some important things.

Maybe stamps that you want to keep? A set of spare keys? How about bullets for emergency?

Whatever you do in it, if everything is tucked away just put the cover on it and screw it on.

Probably no one will ever find out that you are hiding something.

If you want to go a step further, put a piece of furniture in front of it.

Because out of sight, from the heart.

If it happens that you have to open your safe, but you do not have a screwdriver? No problem!

Just use the pins of a plug. The plates fit perfectly into the screw heads.

This gives you complete and easy access.

There are many things that you can adapt to your safe.

For example: If you plan to use the safe a lot

and do not feel like unscrewing everything every time,

drill the holes with a 9/64 “drill.

Then add a drop of glue through which the screws pass through the cover plate

In this way the screws are quickly held in place

and you can easily press them into the holes.

If you want to match it in the environment,

try to place an outlet for the box and put the picture back on.

Now your secret safe looks like other electrical outlets in your house.

Do you have so much stuff and do you want a larger safe?

Then upgrade to a double socket!

This gives you almost twice more storage and is installed just as easily.

If you do not want to spend 3 dollars or make holes in your wall,

then look for one of these sockets in your house.

The cable is protected and there is enough space

to hide something in. Like your computer passwords.

Not only is this option free, the chances are that you have many of these boxes in your house.
