Uncountable English Nouns | Fix Common Grammar Mistakes & Errors

Hi I’m Emma from mmmEnglish!

In this lesson we will focus on English names.

Because a lot of mistakes are made in English

Related to how you use the names

At first, there are two English names

Numerous and numbered names

Now, you may be thinking

“Yes, yes, yes, yes … is not something worth paying attention to

But in fact, it’s worth

It’s really worth it, for a great variety of reasons

Such as, how to use metadata correctly

How to use many and much such and so

some and any a little and a few

All these words depend on the type of name

Learn and understand more about the countless names

And how to use them

It will greatly improve your English grammar

I guarantee you that some mistakes are made in English

Because you are treated as a numberless name like a numbered name

Or a numbered name such as a non-numbered name

Now, I’ve made a “cheat sheet” to help you understand these rules

And will tell you how to upload it at the end of this lesson

In this video, we’ll focus on the countless names

But you can check out another video on the numbered names

Here

Well the kitchen is a wonderful place

To start talking about the names and numbered and countless

It has been a while since we were in the kitchen

So I’m very excited to be here again!

The easiest way to remember the countless names

Is to think of names that are hard to count

Things like liquids: water or wine

Gases: air

Or powders such as flour

Or things like electricity, money or abstract names such as

Happiness, motivation and luck.

Now, all these names, if you wish them, are hard to count.

Countless names have only one form.

Can not be in plural.

You can not use

“a” or “an ‘

With countless names

Because they can not be counted.

You can not use numbers with it at all

We can not say “I need one milk” or “Give me 3 money”

But you can use – some – with the countless names

This means “amount”, but not a specific amount

“Can you bring me some rice from the supermarket?”

We can also use the countless names without – some –

“Can you bring me rice from the supermarket?”

This is very acceptable

For example, to make pancakes, I need some flour.

I need some sugar, some water

And maybe even some syrup (glycogen center).

All these names are numbered

But we need a way to identify these names

Especially when they are cooking in the kitchen

We need to know how much we use

This is easy to do when you talk about a few names

Such as “lemon” or “apple”

But with innumerable names

You need a different name to help you identify

Your unnamed name.

Rice bag,

A glass of oil,

Pack of coconut milk,

2 liters of water, for example.

And quickly, all these things can become numbered!

Notice how do you use metadata with all those names?

Now, all this is good in the kitchen but what about the outside kitchen,

With names like information, happiness or money, luggage, tips!

same idea ! piece of information,

A moment of happiness,

A little bit of luck or a bit of money,

Two pieces of luggage or

I have three pieces of advice for you!

Let us summarize the countless names for a moment.

They only have one shape.

They never gather

You can not use meta tags such as “a” or “an” with them

Numbers can not be used.

You can not say “one piece” or “two luggage”

Or “three tips.

OK ? Fabulous !

Do not forget that you can download the worksheet

To help you use the undefined names correctly.

Now, there are some names that are numbered

You’ll see it used as plural.

But before you panic

These exceptions are related to the context

For a moment this would be a bit confusing.

But be patient, and stay calm

I will help you understand them

Let’s use coffee as an example!

I brought some instant coffee here,

Some coffee beans are sure

A delicious cup of coffee.

Now, the fluid is countless

As well as instant coffee powder.

You can count coffee beans but this is uncommon.

So, we need a few other names

Tell us more about the name.

Jar, tray, kilogram or cup.

But you may hear someone say

“I’ll have a coffee with two sugar please.”

What

Coffee and sugar are both countless!

how it would be ?

Well simply, the context will explain it to us

It means a cup of coffee

And two teaspoons of sugar.

The same is true if someone says “we’ll take three of the water.”

This means three bottles of water or three cups of water.

So, how can you tell if the name is numbered or not numbered?

that’s easy

In the dictionary when you search for a word

You will see [U] or [C] next to the name.

It will tell you whether it is numbered or numbered

Immediately, you will know how you can use this name,

Especially when you upload a worksheet that will help you.

It’s really important because there are so many different words

Which you can use in English

With countless names that can not be used with numbered names.

There is little water in my water cup.

There are a few water in my water mug.

There is a lot of information.

There are a lot of information.

Therefore, it is really important to use

The correct English word with these names.

Now, before I finish

I want to tell you some of the biggest mistakes

Which I see with the countless names in English.

Tips and knowledge

Information and news

Luggage and equipment

Brother

These are all innumerable names

They only have one shape

If, that’s all for this lesson!
