How To – assemble the banoffee pie from 30-Minute Meals


00:00:04hi I’m Georgie and I’m from Jamie’s food

00:00:06team and I’m going to show you how to

00:00:08make the Navi pie so you want to start

00:00:11by eating some golden caster sugar you

00:00:15need about four tablespoons we’re just

00:00:17gonna put that in a medium sized pan on

00:00:20a high heat and then four tablespoons of

00:00:24golden caster sugar and it’s a pan try

00:00:32not to stir it too much that’s how you

00:00:34get sugar crystals form so just give it

00:00:36a little shake even it out and then just

00:00:38leave it for a few minutes and I’ll

00:00:40start to caramelize and go lovely and

00:00:41golden okay as you can see the sheer

00:00:48certain stuffings turn really gorgeous

00:00:50and golden now and I haven’t stirred it

00:00:52at all I’ve just given a little shake so

00:00:55it doesn’t get all crystallized but look

00:00:56around the edges it’s a really beautiful

00:00:57color and that’s pretty much dissolved

00:01:00now so just give it a little swirl like

00:01:05that beautiful then we’re gonna add our

00:01:08blitzed bananas the pan be really really

00:01:11careful because that is super hot and

00:01:14you don’t touch anything

00:01:19and pull that in and then just using

00:01:23spatula just ripple it through smells

00:01:29incredible

00:01:33I’ll just leave it on the hob to cook

00:01:35away for a minute before we pour it into

00:01:39our case we’re just going to pour it

00:01:49into our sweet pastry case

00:01:58then I’m right too much of it’s not

00:02:00mixed complaint days but swells and

00:02:02pools of molten sugar now to set

00:02:07perfectly

00:02:15and spread it out and the case now we’re

00:02:20gonna pop that in the freezer for a few

00:02:22minutes to cool down before button on

00:02:24top

00:02:40okay so the base of our pie has been in

00:02:43the freezer for a few minutes we’re just

00:02:45going to finish off the topping I’m

00:02:47going to start by whipping 300 mils of

00:02:51double cream these have a nice patrol

00:02:55balloon whisk it’s a bit much air as

00:03:02possible so you want to put the cream

00:03:16and so you just start click Peaks don’t

00:03:18over with it there is a point where it

00:03:20will split so just be really gentle like

00:03:28that almost there and I’m just going to

00:03:31get tablespoon of coffee essence

00:03:43gorgeous it’s perfect

00:03:49I’m just going to ripple in tablespoon

00:03:54of coffee – coffee essence sweat it into

00:04:04the cream I just leave that to one side

00:04:07get your remaining two bananas I’m going

00:04:14to slice these and put them on the base

00:04:22so slice them at an angle to give them a

00:04:25nice interesting edge

00:04:39and get your pie and just really gently

00:04:44just scatter the bananas on top so you

00:04:48get even surface

00:05:01excite and then find sir

00:05:10Jenny pour over our cream

00:05:22all that gorgeous coffee essence we

00:05:24portray she looks beautiful

00:05:33and then to finish it off we’re just

00:05:37going to put some shavings of chocolates

00:05:39you can grate the chocolate on that’s

00:05:42fine or if you want to give us a go get

00:05:44yourself of five dark chocolates and

00:05:47using the fat flat side not this sort of

00:05:50texture side itself a sharp knife and

00:05:53just scrape it tilt it an angle about 45

00:05:57degrees and scrape it towards you the

00:06:02chocolates been in the fridge will be

00:06:04too hard and he won’t and get nice curls

00:06:05so just make sure it’s been out the

00:06:07fridge for a while it’s a little bit

00:06:09more malleable so just use your knife to

00:06:12scatter on those shavings

00:06:43and there you have it an absolutely

00:06:46heavenly banoffee pie
