How To – assemble the swedish-style fishcakes from 30-Minute Meals

00:00:04hi I’m Georgie from Jamie’s food team

00:00:07and I’m going to show you how to prepare

00:00:08Swedish style fish cakes first you want

00:00:11to get two slices of quite stale bread

00:00:13even speak white styles they combined

00:00:16everything together and talked the

00:00:17moisture you put them in your food

00:00:19processor and blitz them they’re quite

00:00:20fine

00:00:38perfect grab yourself some tinfoil

00:00:44put it in your work surface and to Pat

00:00:47your breadcrumbs leaving it to one side

00:00:50why should we make your fish cakes just

00:00:55evenly pour the nuts and now we’re going

00:00:59to make the fish cake filling so here

00:01:02I’ve got some tuna salmon and had it

00:01:05always put them in the food processor

00:01:07and blitz them up this you want to

00:01:13season them well so good pinch of salt

00:01:19pepper I’ve got some parsley leaves here

00:01:25as well which Philip it in and then

00:01:29grate in the zest of an unwashed lemon

00:01:35make sure your lemons are aren’t waxed

00:01:38you don’t want to get that in your feed

00:01:39also don’t grate the lemons too much so

00:01:43you just start seeing the white pit stop

00:01:45there because that’s what makes your

00:01:46food go bit better it’s not super

00:02:06you don’t want to travel too fine and

00:02:09tip your fish mixture back onto your

00:02:12plate or platter so you play that first

00:02:16be really careful you want to cut

00:02:18yourself and then just tip it out that’s

00:02:21there’s any fish left one I just really

00:02:24carefully scrape it off and then using a

00:02:30tablespoon a couple of tablespoons of

00:02:33your breadcrumbs big heaped tablespoons

00:02:37and put a little bit extra and scrunch

00:02:42it all together we’re going to make four

00:02:47fish cakes here and you could use a

00:02:50pastry cutter sort of give you a guide

00:02:52around ten centimeters like this one

00:02:55here or you can just divide it whatever

00:03:00is easiest so I’m gonna half mixture and

00:03:03then half again and I’m gonna roll the

00:03:06fish in the breadcrumbs to make sure

00:03:09your mixtures all well mixed your

00:03:11breadcrumbs are evenly sponge through

00:03:14the fish and then these is where I find

00:03:17it’s just half the mixture and then half

00:03:20again so you get four even portions and

00:03:23then what you want to do it’s just roll

00:03:26the fish as if you’re making a burger

00:03:28basically and also make sure that the

00:03:31it’s all even thickness all the way

00:03:33around if you’ve got an uneven fish cake

00:03:35or burger it’s going to cook differently

00:03:37on different sides so you’ll have sort

00:03:39of a warm middle and all the outside to

00:03:42be overcooked so make sure they’re

00:03:43pretty as even as you can like that use

00:03:47it of your hand

00:03:48flatten it and pop it almost and then

00:03:51put it in the boat come and spread them

00:03:53out

00:03:58and give them a good coating just pop

00:04:03them to one side and do the same again

00:04:06for your other do you can use different

00:04:09fish we’ve given you a sort of ratio but

00:04:12if you don’t like salmon or you really

00:04:13like you know how to core tuna you can

00:04:15up the amounts and change them to

00:04:17whatever you’ve got or whatever your

00:04:19preference is there’s another one

00:04:24and also your push for time make them

00:04:28pop them in your freezer just make sure

00:04:31you defrost them and then having another

00:04:33time if you haven’t got massive time

00:04:35during the week and you want to make a

00:04:36quick supper there kind of when you do

00:04:46fry them put them in a pan little bit of

00:04:49oil medium heat and they need about

00:04:52depending on how thick you’ve made them

00:04:54between 7-8 minutes on each side

00:05:09may have it how to fast Swedish style

00:05:12fish cakes
