00:00:14one of my readers mal and also from GT
00:00:17who are members in my forms and they
00:00:19were asking me about how to keep your
00:00:21facebook account personal separate than
00:00:23your business and I thought the easiest
00:00:25way to show you a bit actually to you do
00:00:27a screencast you can see what I’m doing
00:00:28on my computer’s answer the question so
00:00:30the question first of all start with mal
00:00:32and you’re saying I started a Facebook
00:00:33account must admit I didn’t and still
00:00:35don’t get involved much I want to keep
00:00:37my friends and family strictly separate
00:00:39appreciate any help in setting up
00:00:41business page but more importantly how
00:00:42to keep it separate from the personal
00:00:44side and then GT responded hi Milo sure
00:00:47concern its exact reason why I’m not on
00:00:49Facebook I want to keep personal and
00:00:50business separate so i thought i’d show
00:00:52you what i do on facebook on my business
00:00:54side and personal how I keep it separate
00:00:56and how I really enjoy the facebook
00:00:59experience so I’ll show you first of all
00:01:01my business side and what I do so this
00:01:04is my business page and it’s called Evan
00:01:06Carmichael calm and on the left side
00:01:09here shows my picture and information
00:01:12about my website and what I do here is
00:01:15on my wall I’ll share information that
00:01:17my customers and my readers will I think
00:01:20enjoy so we start off with famous
00:01:22entrepreneur quote so I try to do one of
00:01:24those every morning so this is Steve
00:01:26kaol I’ll do fun things like fill in the
00:01:29blank so my favorite way to mark my
00:01:31business is and we get people who then
00:01:33leave their comments below I’ll promote
00:01:35new videos that I’m working on so a lot
00:01:38of times when I do these ask Kevin
00:01:39videos are posted to my facebook page
00:01:41and then people will like it and comment
00:01:44on it and share it and that helps spread
00:01:46the word about the content that I’m
00:01:47creating and also creates a little
00:01:50community of people who are
00:01:51entrepreneurs who enjoy reading my stuff
00:01:53and they also get to meet each other and
00:01:55interact which is great I thought I’d
00:01:58also should break down some of the other
00:01:59things that I do you have a lot of
00:02:01opportunities here on the side to add
00:02:04tabs so the first tab that I added is
00:02:07inspirational quotes so this is
00:02:10something that I believe in if you
00:02:12the success of famous entrepreneurs and
00:02:14so you know starting the business can be
00:02:16tough and running it can be even tougher
00:02:18and here are some inspirational quotes
00:02:20to kind of keep it going and get you to
00:02:22want to push through those barriers and
00:02:24make sure you keep pushing towards that
00:02:25success the photos tab here these are
00:02:29any photos that get posted from your
00:02:31account so while photos I’ll often post
00:02:35photos of famous entrepreneurs when I
00:02:37have their quotes so this is the founder
00:02:39of ikea here i created a new line photos
00:02:42called who’s Evan meeting so when ever I
00:02:45go and meet with people I snap a picture
00:02:47and i’ll post it up on facebook if they
00:02:48want some promotion i post some fun
00:02:51pictures and these might be personal
00:02:52pictures but I get to choose when I want
00:02:54to put up some fun pictures so it could
00:02:56be mean salsa dancing or anything from
00:02:59my personal life that I want to add in
00:03:01there but it’s not required so I have to
00:03:03separately post to my business page you
00:03:05say yes you want to put these personal
00:03:07pictures up and then if I go on TV or
00:03:10whatever books I’m reading I post post
00:03:13those pictures up here as well and helps
00:03:15people get to know me and when I’m up to
00:03:17but I keep it pretty professional I
00:03:19don’t share you know personal views or
00:03:21too many personal pictures only a couple
00:03:23I can put my youtube channel up on here
00:03:26so it’ll show you my most popular
00:03:28YouTube videos people can watch from
00:03:31within here and then quote some Oprah
00:03:34Winfrey tony robbins and you can keep
00:03:36going on and adding more and i’ll
00:03:37probably keep adding more and more of
00:03:38those taps in and then you can also
00:03:41support your friends in business if
00:03:44other people you know have facebook fan
00:03:46pages you can put their links in here
00:03:49and then they can also get some
00:03:51promotion from your page so that’s what
00:03:53I try to do I find it’s a great way to
00:03:54be able to connect with my audience and
00:03:58also showcase some of the content that
00:04:00I’m working on and get feedback from the
00:04:01community but I keep it strictly
00:04:03business except for a few personal
00:04:05photos that I like to put up there I
00:04:06think it’s fun I’ll flip back to the
00:04:10personal side and that’s just if I go to
00:04:11facebook com then this is my personal
00:04:13feed and has nothing to do with my
00:04:15business side so here are my friends so
00:04:17I only add people on my facebook the
00:04:20personal side who are actually friends
00:04:23of mine on the business side and we have
00:04:26couple thousand people who are fans of
00:04:28the page and you know I know some of
00:04:30them but most of them I don’t have a
00:04:31personal connection with but on the
00:04:33personal side I’m friends with all of
00:04:35these people I know who they are you
00:04:37know been to their house and interested
00:04:40to learn more about what they’re up to
00:04:41so here I can go you know see a friend
00:04:44of mine Alfred k i’ll scroll down and
00:04:46see other you know photos of friends
00:04:48what they’re up to you know my sister my
00:04:51poster our uncle unfortunately passed
00:04:53away recently so people posting messages
00:04:55about him and so that’s you know great
00:04:58way to be able to stay in touch with
00:05:00friends and family and see what they’re
00:05:01up to my father here was not on Facebook
00:05:06that much and I said hey you should go
00:05:07on don’t worry about accepting every
00:05:10friend request just put you know friends
00:05:11and family who you actually know and you
00:05:13know i’m i live in the same city as my
00:05:16were pretty close but my one sister is
00:05:19in Africa and other sisters in
00:05:21California and so it’s not always easy
00:05:22to get together and talk but Facebook
00:05:24can be a great way for people to be able
00:05:26to share what they’re up to and you can
00:05:27quickly see what everybody’s doing
00:05:29especially in there faraway places so I
00:05:31don’t have to share that much on here
00:05:34just things that I want to share with my
00:05:36friends and family will go on my
00:05:37personal feed and the things i want to
00:05:40share with my readers go on my facebook
00:05:42page and that’s really why facebook set
00:05:44up these pages was to separate it from
00:05:46your personal side because people were
00:05:49setting up their individual accounts and
00:05:51promoting their business so they want to
00:05:52try to keep that separate so I’m a big
00:05:54advocate of being able to use a Facebook
00:05:56page I think it’s a great way to connect
00:05:57with your audience and showcase what
00:05:59you’re up to and I hope the video helped
00:06:01explain how to keep that personal side
