00:00:03equally giant aquarium tank okay that’s
00:00:06all great for mom and dad and the whole
00:00:08family who come to see the octopus
00:00:10except there are sharks in this tank as
00:00:14well sharks that are voracious predators
00:00:18and opportunistic feeders and that have
00:00:21been known to veer from their usual
00:00:23fishy diets to munch on an occasional
00:00:26octopus
00:00:27these are spiny dogfish sharks did
00:00:30anybody ask the octopus about this knew
00:00:36what the aquarium folks are thinking is
00:00:39that the octopus can use its ability to
00:00:41camouflage itself as protection and if
00:00:45that doesn’t work it has the strength to
00:00:47fight off the shark or at least dash to
00:00:49the nearest hiding hole it can squeeze
00:00:51into the aquarium folks soon realize
00:00:56what does happen when you put these
00:00:58sharks and octopi in the same tank and
00:01:00you’re about to see it too if you’ve got
00:01:03the courage to keep watching if only
00:01:05through your splayed fingers the octopus
00:01:09not in the habit of attacking sharks the
00:01:14shark sharp spines jutting out from its
00:01:16dorsal fins that can puncture anything
00:01:18that touches them
00:01:21the octopus can its powers of defense
00:01:24save it in such tight quarters the shark
00:01:28menacing on the prowl just itching to
00:01:32use those rows of teeth to crush its
00:01:34next meal I’ve got a feeling this
00:01:36real-life version of Jaws isn’t going to
00:01:39be pretty and so the shark the shark
00:01:45yeah boy am i glad I didn’t have a bet
00:01:50down on this matchup that’s right this
00:01:54is what happened the Giant Pacific
00:01:57octopus as seen here in this amazing so
00:02:00close you feel like you might get
00:02:02squashed footage was making short work
00:02:04of the shark in the tank
00:02:11dogfish carcasses kept showing up at the
00:02:14bottom of the tank what you’re seeing
00:02:16this footage was taken to see what was
00:02:19doing in the supposedly invincible
00:02:22predators the aquarium staff learn
00:02:26something new about the octopi there was
00:02:29a danger in the tank all right but it
00:02:32was all to the Sharks
00:02:37that’s one way to defend yourself from a
00:02:40predator eliminate them
