An elegant weapon for a more civilized time.
I was already waiting for your Obi-Wan. Finally we meet again.
Welcome to WatchMojo.com
-and today we count for our Top 10 lightsaber battles.
For this list we look at the most impressive battles with lightsabers-
in the ‘Star Wars’ history.
We watch movie and animation, films and series.
Fights from books and comics are left out of consideration.
No!
There are also spoilers between them, so look at your own risk.
Your pupil is promising, my pupil.
She will serve us well.
I am honoured.
Asajj Ventress was originally designed by the team of ‘Episode II’
But she only appeared for the first time in the first ‘Clone Wars’ series.
Come Padawan. Your fall will be my access to the Sith.
After she has to kill Darth Sidious Anakin, –
it appears that he only sends her to test Anakin.
Anakin is going to have a hard time.
Unimportant. She is only an instrument to exterminate the Jedi.
Scenes where they fly each other, –
-plus more direct confrontations, –
-this fight has it all.
Including a dramatic end.
What do you get when you combine two Sith Lords with 2 Jedi Masters?
Apparently, a dead Jedi.
And that once called itself the “mighty Sith”.
If the fight just starts –
– apparently they dare to meet each other reasonably well.
But it soon becomes clear that this is not the case.
When Maul’s older brother and Adi Gallia split off from the group, –
it becomes 1 of the fastest and one-sided battles ever.
After an unsuccessful kick she just keeps it
– until they are literally stabbed in the back.
Hey Hello!
We know what you think:
How does a duel against a creature with 4 arms come so low on the list?
You probably already know that this is the end.
That proves again how many cool fights there are.
You have guts.
Finish him.
Grievous killed a Jedi for every weapon in his possession.
So it is not Obi-Wan.
Especially with those propeller actions from Grievous that keep him at a distance.
But as soon as he starts to disarm the general, –
turns the tide
-and it is soon over.
You would have thought so.
I feel a presence …
… that I have not felt since …
Master!
This fight shows the most of how the Sith works.
These two brothers get the list again, this time against Darth Sidious, –
-the future emperor who was once Maul’s master.
you have become a rival.
Despite being 2 against 1, –
– they never really pose a threat to the older Sidious.
Who eventually killed the brother of his ex-student, –
with a laugh.
Brother…
Master Yoda.
Count Dooku.
Fans dreamed for years about a fight with the great Jedi Master Yoda.
But until this moment we never expected to be able to experience it.
You still have a lot to learn.
Almost no one expected the acrobatic arts that Yoda used-
to get the advantage over his much bigger opponent.
Struggling with a walking stick he seems small and weak, but he turns out very strong –
-and his enemy flight when he realizes that the battle is lost.
Well fought, my former Padawan.
This is just the beginning.
The flashiest fight of the Original Trilogy.
This fight is known for its quiet dialogue –
– and that one spectator.
Use your aggression. Let the hatred flow through you.
But action was never the highlight of this scene –
– even though there are good examples of it.
What attracts us the most in this fight is the tension and emotion –
who finally comes to a conclusion after a build-up of 3 films.
I’m not going to fight with you father.
The revelation that Vader’s hand is also a robot –
– is perhaps the simplest but most symbolic and attractive part of this scene.
Master Yoda. You survived.
When the Empire hit back in 1980 and we met Yoda for the first time –
– the fans immediately became clear that the leaders of the two sides of the Force –
– that little green guy –
– and the emperor were.
You can not stop me.
But the idea that those two would go on the fist never seemed an option.
Surprised?
But when ‘Episode III’ came out 25 years later –
– we finally got the fight that we did not expect.
And it was great.
You have learned a lot of youngsters.
I am full of surprises.
For many people around the world, Father was the personification of evil –
and Luke the hero we loved.
Impressive.
Very impressive.
The image of the two veiled in the dark and surrounded by shadow and smoke –
– with the light of their lightsabers –
-was exciting and frightening at the same time.
It is over. Resistance is useless.
Quiet and mythical, –
-and Father who seems to play with his inexperienced opponent made it a long fight.
But we would not change anything –
– and nobody should want that.
When ‘Episode I’ came out –
– there was a lot of disappointment among Star Wars fans.
But there was 1 addition that was appreciated:
Darth Maul.
Athletic and with a cool look –
Maul was a Sith Lord as we had not seen them yet.
Not to mention his double sided sword.
When we finally see him fighting –
it’s great.
Raised against 2 Jedi Knights at the same time –
– the action goes faster than Star Wars ever went.
And we loved it.
Before we reveal our number 1 –
– there are still a few worth mentioning here.
You can not win Darth.
If you strike me now I will become stronger than you ever thought possible.
I will do what is necessary.
You will try.
It will not be better than this.
Long and extensive –
– is this struggle between teacher and student –
– by far the largest of the entire Saga.
The two ex-friends attack each other viciously –
– while Obi-Wan Anakin is still trying to convince his mistakes.
Even though he knows that it is already too late for that.
From where I stand, the Jedi are bad.
Then you are really lost.
At the end –
– Anakin’s pride becomes his downfall.
It’s over Anakin.
I am higher.
He does not pass Kenobi –
– and loses his legs and burned.
The beginning of an epic villain.
Do you agree with our list?
No.
What is your favorites lightsaber fight?
You have been replaced.
