I want to ask now that we all concentrate and think
about our most cherished dream,
the dream that does not give us rest,
that we want to achieve that dream at all costs,
because that dream has already become part of us.
And even if people around us say that we do not need it,
we know that we need it and we want to go after it.
And what do women dream about?
Perhaps different images are now in your mind.
In 2013, I was 35 when I was married
and I had 4 children, two boys and two girls.
The largest of them was 14 years old, the youngest was 3.
I had 2 higher education, journalist and lawyer.
I had a good job.
But I also had a cherished dream.
Depart and study at any of the European universities
and get a narrow specialty of a lawyer.
This dream was with me long ago.
Over the years I have had successful and unsuccessful attempts.
There were cases when there were only a few points
I could not enter the university.
There were cases when I succeeded,
but because of the family situation I could not leave.
And here in 2013?
I once again stood in front of my dreams and had to walk.
And a very difficult decision was made:
maybe one of the most difficult decisions in my life,
studied at the Faculty of Law at the Gene University in Belgrade.
All positive and negative aspects of the decision were discussed,
all possible difficulties were taken into consideration,
my absence from the country for a year,
all the circumstances of children staying in Armenia without me.
And in September 2013, I left the country for a year.
I would never want to go back to Homeland
my first day or the first week.
At that time, I was too close to buying an airplane ticket and returning,
because it seemed to me that I had taken too much burden on my shoulders
and I will not be able to finish.
It was very difficult because all my fellow students
at least seven, eight years older than me
and enjoyed careless student life,
a small European student city.
Meanwhile, after every lesson, I was sitting on my bike very fast
and hurry to the room,
so I could connect my computer and talk to my family and children.
In reality, these were difficulties that were expected for us.
We knew that we would face such difficulties.
I knew there might even be cases when I regret for such a move.
But there was another set of difficulties that I could not expect.
People around were surrounded,
who critically approached my decision,
because the society considered that the mother of four can not
allowing such luxury and continuing his education.
Various questions were heard.
“What Will Give You That Education?”
“When you get back, you’ll find a better job,
“What will you learn now that you do not know?”
There were more tolerant opinions.
It was questioned
my being a good mother or a faithful woman.
Me and my family had to constantly be justified
and answer many similar questions.
And most prominent in this story,
that’s all my difficulties with my decision
They were lying on my shoulders and my family’s shoulders.
The society did not share our difficulty in any way.
He simply did not want to accept a phenomenon,
which did not fit within the limits of the scenario described.
However, a year later,
I was very proud to return to Armenia with my third degree diploma.
But after returning, something interesting happened,
that I did not expect another.
My elder children who were at school at that time,
began to learn clearly better.
They began to be treated more responsibly
their school education.
And I thought, maybe even not knowing,
but I set a good example for them.
Perhaps they understood that education was really important
and is a fundamental phenomenon in life,
if I had left my country and left for education.
Then I was wondering if this was a coincidence,
what a regularity?
It turned out that the specialists measured, conducted studies.
A survey of 40,000 young people showed that,
the mothers of students every year of life,
20 percent increase daughter and 10 percent of her sons
the probability of obtaining education.
Thus experts have come to the conclusion that,
that mothers have an indispensable and important role
for further education of children.
There is such a beautiful idea,
that I think of our contemporary societies
should be the cornerstone of development.
We say that when we educate girls, we educate a whole nation.
To say that education is important and everyone should get education,
have the right to education, have access to education,
Of course, this is so,
but why do we separate them?
The importance of girls’ education.
Because there are obvious and not so obvious advantages
for the society when girls are educated.
For example, educated women noticeably
more bold access to the labor market.
Their being educated is directly related to the remuneration.
The more women are educated,
so small is the rewards for men and women
The gap between us, which is 36% in our country.
In other words, women in Armenia for their work
are paid 36% lower than men.
What is the percentage of women in Armenia?
Women constitute 53.3% of the population in our country,
ie, a little more than half a little more.
They are economically active, that is, 56%.
Now imagine a car.
The car usually has 4 rods.
Let’s imagine that one of the cars facing the front of our car does not rotate,
for some reason, but does not spin.
How much we will be able to cross the road,
if we can drive the car at all.
The country where women have full potential and knowledge
are not involved in the economic development of the country,
it’s like a described car.
Our country as a developing country,
I think he can not afford such luxury
and not to use the full potential of women.
Women’s education also has consequences
not so obvious and visible areas.
Let it not be surprising,
but the level of women’s education is high in the country
the lower mortality rates of infant mortality.
The reason is the bottom one.
Educated mothers make more conscious decisions
related to the health of their children,
are aware of the priority services,
and the peculiarities of tracking the children’s health,
as a result of which throughout the world over the last years
The infant mortality rate has dropped by 51 percent.
Thus, educated women have consequences
in different spheres of life
and we can not underestimate women’s education.
Now, three years after getting my third degree,
I want to answer the question,
which was most frequently used at that time,
What gave me my education?
My education gave me the most important things in extreme situations
the opportunity to re-evaluate their strength,
resulting in more self-reliance and more self-confident
making decisions.
Now I want to ask again, what do women dream about?
Very often women dream about getting education
and this is our dream that we should follow,
which we must at all costs and never compromise.
Thank you.
(Applause)
