(exhalation)

(Laughter)

Have you just heard it?

(Laughter)

this is not true.

(Laughter)

The world is on the verge of …

The edge is the best it can be.

Yes, there is a conflict in the world:

The Syrian refugee crisis,

Nuclear developments in North Korea,

Human disintegration in Myanmar,

The earthquake in Mexico,

But where there is conflict,

There are volunteers

Who bring change.

At the national level, the opium crisis,

Recent hurricanes,

Fire,

As well as in any place there is a disaster,

There are those who want to give resources.

Locally, we have a homeless,

We have a hungry,

We have neglected neighbors,

And also we have hope

Because you exist

You can be the change agent.

You can make the world a better place.

This quote is attributed to Gendy.

Which is frequented with a lot

It is a simple call to action

Which we can believe, feel,

As if we had the power and control of the harsh world.

But the fact is that

Actually, Gundi did not say this.

Sorry

(Laughter)

To bring this news to you this way.

But he appeals to many of us because it seems true.

It seemed like something he had said.

Scientists generally agree

He may have proved it and had loved it

It shows an attentive aspect of his personality to humanity.

That is what he has already said.

As you can see, like most philosophers

Lawyers,

It’s really a long way

To become a shock absorber sticker

Or to be drawn as a swarm.

It resonates with us, it is common.

The question is: Why does this attract us?

Why does this quote attributed to Gandhi attract us and resonate?

What about it simply looks right?

It looks like something he had said

It looks like something we all wanted to happen.

His words lead us to understand

That if we want a change in this world,

If we want change, it must start from ourselves.

We can not look outside

We hope that others will begin to bring about the change we want in the world.

If we want a change in this world, it must start from within us.

We are agents of change.

This is the power of that message.

So they are wonderful.

Today, too, I challenge you to do something a bit different.

I will challenge you to think a little differently

You step outside the bubble of your world.

I challenge you to be selfish

And give.

But what do I mean by that?

Have you ever helped someone else?

Do you know, like buying coffee for your successor while receiving a service in the car?

Or perhaps she donated a food bag to the children’s school campaign?

Have you ever donated blood?

Of course yes

But why?

Why did I do it once? Why do they continue to do so?

Because giving and helping people,

Is good.

Get a good feeling may be addictive.

The quote attributed to Gandhi and his language teaches us interest in others

To think outside of our personal needs.

But I ask you to be a bit more selfish,

Think about how to change the world

To do something that nourishes your soul.

Deliver your time in something that brings you joy.

The joy you can not get

Only by making the world a better place.

The effect of that tender is clear.

There are over one and a half million non-profit organizations in the United States.

It is a huge part of our workforce,

It affected every single society.

Over the last fifteen years I have had the honor and privilege

To serve as the director of a non-profit organization,

As a donor

And volunteer.

However, I was surprised every day by the impact of the volunteers.

Volunteering is the essence of being an American.

More than 75 million adults each year

They can contribute about 116 hours of volunteer service.

This is less than two and a half weeks of getting a good feeling

By sacrificing their time.

They provide about 8.7 billion hours of volunteer service.

And now you know that this has a big financial impact

And socially to every city and society.

These $ 180 billion,

That’s what these hours are worth.

These are almost California’s budget.

Or the estimated costs of cleaning after Hurricane Harvey.

This is the effect of volunteering.

If your heart and your passion lead you to serve families,

Women’s Issues,

children,

the animals,

During catastrophic situations,

Protection of displaced persons,

Or if your heart leads you to certain population groups:

Elderly

Or those who have delayed mental development,

International conflict,

Hunger,

Those who are victims of crime,

Or sometimes leads you passion for the future,

Youth Service,

Environmental issues

Or develop leadership skills.

If you come to charity, it will ignite your passion.

Be selfish and give.

I know.

You said in your mind once I started talking about volunteering

I like to do that, but I’m busy.

We are all busy.

But your window of opportunity lies in that.

What is the best way to exploit this little time you need

By contributing yourself and spending your time in your passion.

Imagine the difference you can make and how wonderful you can feel

Spend your time, and put your energy in something you already love.

Here’s a great example.

We live in an amazing society.

Tammy Marin is the Executive Director of our group at Heptat of Humanity.

Unfortunately Tammy a few years ago, suffered a tragic loss.

Tami found solace and healing, in the expressive arts.

We tend to be in the world of non-profit organizations to travel in groups

Tammy reported that she had this art she was playing

And how he brought her joy.

As our friend Kim,

Director of the Michel Center for Breast Cancer Resources said:

“Would you be interested?

Teach some of our ladies who have breast cancer

How to do this expressive art? “

And Tammy, being the most selfish person I know,

(Laughter)

“Sure, I can do that,” she said.

So Tammy donates her time

To work with women with breast cancer

To expressive art.

She is able to nourish her spirit by doing what she loves.

It is changing the world.

I can not think of what better to spend my time.

So I challenge you to be selfish and give.

Think about what your time can do to nourish your spirit, to satisfy your passion,

Make your world a better place.

To be an agent for change through volunteer work.

You make a difference.

You already make the world a better place.

please,

Think of being a little more selfish,

He stopped doing a lot of things.

Take advantage of your time in something worth it for you,

It will make the world a better place.

please,

Just think of being a little more selfish,

I give.

(clap)
