When our son asks people like this:
“Mommy, why are you going to work?”
What he is asking, in fact, is:
“What is so incredible, sensational, too much
that you’ll leave me at home? “
And the pet, he has been selfish since he was little,
because he never thinks we’re going to do something, right,
he wants to know what’s so incredible that you’re not with me?
And amazingly, when we do not know the answer,
And you to think:
“Dude, son, there’s nothing really that incredible,
so awesome and so sensational that it makes me leave you. “
So, what happens, how are you going to work?
In the conflict, or you will not.
We are 69 million mothers in Brazil.
And every ten women, four do not return after maternity leave,
Did you know that?
It’s a lot of people, right?
And they are varied motives.
And this confusion between the dish you have to balance as a mother
and the dish you have to balance like professional,
we go from 100 to 0.
At some point they told the world that a mother can not
to balance their professional life with their mother’s life.
And you know what happened?
We believed.
And then we did not go.
And then we will not, and then we stop believing in more,
and then people give up.
So is…
my job, today, what I do, we accelerate entrepreneurial mothers,
mothers who are lost in their careers,
or accelerate mothers who do not know where they are going.
We give you a voice so you can say what you want:
“I do not like to stay with my son all the time.”
Does it hurt, people, to hear? Not for me, because I do not like it either.
(Laughs)
I love my son, but there comes a time when I need to turn another little plate.
I need to get laid, I need to get ready, I have to go out with my husband,
I need to eat, I have to work.
And that’s fine.
So we can talk about what we want to make the scenarios clear
for you to choose, if you want to go back to the market, if you want to start.
And there, I go after large corporations, because I believe the big change,
when we are alone in a smaller world than big companies,
It takes us a long time to help as many mothers as possible.
So I pick up my gravel, knock it there and say:
“Brother, I need some help there, because you’re big, I’m small, come on.”
And then, one day I did all my pitching, the proposal, the mothers, the numbers:
78% of women start after motherhood.
I broke down, when I just talked about a fucking company, the guy looked at me:
“Dani, I do not believe anything you’re talking about.
I do not believe you, I do not believe in the mothers you represent,
I do not believe in these women,
and I do not believe any of these ideas will stand up. “
I breathed …
And then he said, “Did it hurt?”
I was a little emotional and I said, “It hurt.”
“But that’s not what I wanted to tell you.
I wanted to tell you this:
It’s not me who does not believe,
your husband also probably did not believe the first time you spoke,
nor his family,
nor the whole market, nor companies, nor the media, nor anyone,
because it’s so hard to be a mother,
it is so difficult to undertake,
that we, in our tiny capacity as a man,
you can not understand how you could do both.
So when you bring me this mirror, it hurts me and then I treat you badly.
And, another thing, you’re wrong,
Why are you talking to mothers only?
the real change goes when you stop preaching to the converted. “
I preached to the convert.
I was talking, everyone was happy and applauding me, I was devastating.
But the change is talking to the man, talking to the mother, talking to the young people.
And then I learned something on this day that was interesting, I said:
“Man, my audience has to have a man, a woman, everybody has to have it.”
When everyone in the village knows that an Indian woman is pregnant,
everyone is interested in that,
everyone helps themselves; the shaman, the children, the teenagers,
the parents, the non-parents, the mothers, the nature,
everyone moves around that mother,
because they believe that the fruit of that womb
He’s going to be born and he’s going to the village, is not he?
And that child has to grow up, does not he?
She’s going to hunt.
She’s going to defend the tribe, right?
She who will bring the next children to the world.
And how do we do it?
How is it when a woman arrives in HR and says she’s pregnant?
How does the village move?
“It’s over, it’s over.”
And the woman stays like? “My God, do I speak or not?
Wednesday I have an international conference, best not to talk now. “
And then, I get reports of people tying their belly up to the fifth month,
People who are crying in the bathroom, in the toilet.
“Get up, clean this face, put on makeup, then we’ll talk,
now it’s 4:00 in the afternoon and you’re going to have to continue. “
Hold the wave, then, like this …
My invitation,
when I bring entrepreneurship and motherhood, it’s this:
what can you do?
But…
Can not do it alone.
It does not give, it does not, it is not possible,
Think big alone.
You can only think big in a collaborative way.
Use support networks, use men, use women, use non-mothers.
Speak more to them, ask for more help, use the support network.
And to undertake is the same thing.
So we found out that in a network …
and then I went to the market to try to understand how I could help these mothers more
and 99% of all the wealth of the state of São Paulo
is made of micro and small enterprises.
We make the difference.
And today, 47% of the country’s micro and small businesses are led by women.
Do you understand?
Of the 67 million mothers who spoke, 20 million are single.
How do they run all this, people?
With other women.
Sometimes with other men. No matter who.
But, get help.
So undertaking is possible,
it’s difficult,
is complex and lonely.
But it does not have to be.
It will remain difficult,
will remain complex, but need no longer be lonely.
I work with startups, so all the stages I was going to help,
to them to do their pitching, to validate business,
to grow, were masculine …
young…
involved with technologies.
And then a mother stage today, it is only possible because it is also collaborative.
They can, not because they said they can,
it’s because we grow 33% a year.
Two thousand and sixteen was the first year that women bought a million more
that men in the e-commerces with their credit cards.
So, let’s go to the number, let’s pro, pro argument, pro money,
because to undertake is like this.
It’s jungle.
And it’s jungle and we go to the jungle together.
You can only think big in a collaborative way.
And another thing, speaking of entrepreneurship,
idea is nothing, people,
there are two things that is important for entrepreneurship:
team
and ability to execute.
Was Facebook the first social network that ever existed?
Was Google the first search engine?
Do not.
Why are they there and the others are not?
Execution capacity
and team, execution capacity and team.
When I take my companies to investment rounds,
the first question the guy asks is: what is your team?
And I’m tired of going into a meeting and the first question they ask is:
“Is your husband your partner?”
But I said thus: “No, he is not my partner, my partner is four other women,
Let’s continue the conversation? “
So then,
What I ask is that we work [together],
we need the pragmatism of men,
and their ability to war, and our vision
and together it’s a mix.
So, my invitation in those last minutes there,
is to reach out one hand, reach out for another,
perceive another woman, perceive a fragility, speak the truth.
Comfortable lies do not interest me and should not interest you.
And have a real impact on the world.
I said that we have two major important milestones in life,
one is when we are born,
and another is when we know why it was born
and I had the chance, in my life,
to know for what I was born and was to show
who has a woman on the stage, good, productive, earning money and generating employment.
That’s it, thank you.
(Applause) (Live)
