They all listen to me, do not they? Uu, wow, okay.

Hello! Just in case they wanted

a little more time to read the slide.

I would like to start telling you

all the things that I do wrong

I am very bad to keep track of my finances.

The open deadlines are my biggest enemy.

My Spanish … let’s see …

I’m not very good at debates either

and if they ask people who know me well,

They would probably tell you that

I’m very messy.

I would call it organized chaos, but good.

On top of this, I have no intention of improving.

But I’m sure, on the other hand, that there are several of you.

that can do the things that I mentioned

quite easily.

And they do not even think it’s the great thing. But it is.

Now: can you imagine living your lives

just doing what they do well?

How do you know what you do well?

Our talents, many times, are hidden.

They are hidden because the things we do very easily

They indicate our talents.

But how those things are so easy for us

we do not realize that it is something special,

We believe that everyone can do them.

But it’s not like that.

And the talents are also our filter to the world and how we understand others.

That’s why what can seem a weakness, really,

it’s just a talent not understood or, perhaps, not well developed.

I tell you a short story:

She is the first person

with whom I had the pleasure of working as a coach

Here in Peru.

I was not very happy with your work,

I was working in hospitality,

and I thought I was not taking advantage of his potential.

Then, working with me,

she discovered that

He had the talent of a restaurateur.

Restorer is a talent who can search or identify problems to avoid them.

She, discovering that this is a talent and not a weakness–

I saw a spark ignite in his eyes, sincerely.

And this is because this talent

it had caused him enough pain

for most of his life.

Your family, your friends,

they had all seen her as a party pooper.

And she, understanding that this is a talent,

started to address

with much more confidence

and to make decisions

that I had never considered before.

And at this moment he is in Spain, studying his master’s degree in marketing.

And, really, he is much happier.

Our innate talents

they are the most natural way of thinking, feeling, acting or behaving.

We are going to do a very quick exercise.

Please raise your hand

that they use to write: your dominant hand.

Excellent, for me it is right.

Now, suppose I say

that you can no longer use this hand:

It’s tied behind your back.

You can only do things

with your non-dominant hand.

Write, eat, dress, cook.

Could you do it?

Sure, with a little practice.

But how would you feel?

Anxious, frustrated, angry, stressed?

But, unfortunately, this is, exactly, what we do every day

with our collaborators,

with our children, with ourselves.

It seems that we demand to improve

in areas that

they are not given to us naturally.

You can get better? Yeah right.

But to achieve excellence is very difficult.

It’s only when we’re working

through our zone of strength,

that we really learn to fly.

I am 43 years old and last year

I had a midlife crisis.

Not the first crisis, by the way,

but the deepest.

My marriage was wrong,

my son was only one year old,

and I did not have a job that made me feel good.

Yes I was successful, but not happiness.

Like anyone at a time like this,

I began to reflect and ask:

“How did I get here? I’m not happy.

“I’m not doing what I want.”

Many times it does not hurt enough

to make the necessary changes

even if we are unhappy, dissatisfied, unhappy.

The known is more comfortable than the unknown.

But I promise you:

if you do not decide to change at this time,

another moment comes

This is the moment of the second opportunity.

It’s a strong call

who slap us:

it’s cancer, it’s the death of a loved one,

it is a serious shock,

is to look at the face of death – and survive.

It is at this moment that we realize

of what really matters to us.

And we have no choice but to change.

And so it happened to me.

The message that came to me was cancer.

For a week I waited anxiously for my results.

Considering all the possibilities,

if he only had one month, one year, until … who knows?

My life had to change.

And I started thinking

in what he did well,

in what I liked to do,

in what I got out of bed every day

to live with a purpose.

I analyzed my innate talents

and I reflected on the things that

All the people told me that I was doing well.

Happily, it was just a scare, but enough

to make the necessary changes.

It was at that time

that I certified myself as a strength coach.

And, I believe, I’m in my own.

I discovered my talents in 2003,

when I took the advisory of Clifton StregthsFinder.

For me it was as if a user manual came to me.

It was my a-há.

Finally, my personality made sense:

I understood why I like to talk to so many people,

why my mind is so full of ideas

and why am I so emotional?

For me it was a moment, sincerely, powerful and significant.

He gave me a vocabulary

to explain myself to other people.

And finally I understood what made me unique.

In the 50s, Dr. Donald Clfton

he started his investigation

about the area of strengths that,

He thought,

it would translate into better performance,

less stress and, above all,

a better quality of life.

And I wanted to do it

with a quick reading study,

with your students.

At the beginning, most of his students

he read an average of 90 words per minute,

but a small portion read 350 words per minute.

And he began to teach

its rapid reading methodology.

With this, everyone improved.

Those of 90 ppm, yes, improved, to 150,

but there was a surprise:

those of 350 ppm reached 2900 words per minute.

That is, a novel of 200 pages,

in 15 minutes.

Not bad, do not you think?

But, still, this is not

what excites me most about strengths–

I see a very bright future,

and there’s a well-known quote from Marianne Williamson

that reinforces the vision and the belief that I have.

It is this: “Our deepest fear

It is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear

is that we are more powerful than can be measured.

It is our light, and not our darkness,

what scares us the most

We are wondering:

“Who am I to be brilliant,

wonderful, talented or fabulous? “

The question should be: Who are you not to be?

It does not help the world to be small,

there is nothing illuminating

in reducing us so that others

Do not feel insecure about your abilities.

We are all destined to shine, like children.

We were born to manifest the glory that is within us-

and not just some, but everyone.

When we let our light shine, almost without realizing it,

we are helping others to do it.

By freeing ourselves of our fears, we help others get rid of them. “

Would you believe me if I told you that with you is enough?

That you have everything inside of you to be everything you want in the world.

That there is nobody in the world like you.

You are unique.

Would you believe me?

According to StrengthsFinder there are 34 talent themes.

The strongest of mine are: strategic, activator, maximizer,

communication and devise.

Only 1 in 278,000 people share these same talents with me.

To find these same talents, in the same order, in another person,

Now we are talking about 1 in 33 million.

Still do not believe me you have something special to offer the world?

That you are unique?

But you do not need advice to identify your talents.

They are shown in 5 very consistent ways.

In the yearnings, in what attracts you naturally.

In quick learning, what you do easily.

In the ability to flow: when you lose the notion of time doing something.

In excellence: you did not even have to think about the steps to do what you did.

And, finally, in satisfaction;

when you not only feel pride, but you anticipate the next time you do it.

Okay. A quick experiment.

I want people who have the characteristics

I’m going to say, stand up.

Stand up if you need to make a list

of the things you want to accomplish in the day.

Rapidito No one? Already! Achieving people Perfect.

Now, are you a person who can talk to everyone?

You do not know a stranger. Already! (laughs) Sociable people.

And, now: you need a lot of time to think and make decisions.

Let’s greet the intellectuals.

And there is no second place, only the first. Someone?

AHA! Competitive people

Very well, there it is: a flash of many possible talents.

Thank you for your participation. (laughs)

(applause)

Now I go back to the part that most excites me

about strengths, and how they can affect our future.

Usually, when we are living through our talents,

of our strengths,

We have more self-confidence, better self-esteem,

less stress, better performance, better communication and relationships,

a better quality of life, a more positive well-being.

Imagine the power that this knowledge

could give our children, the young, the leaders of tomorrow.

Creating a path of less resistance for its development.

Changing the chip of their brains to one that only sees possibilities.

Who sees the world and the people with the good that it has.

That takes advantage of the specific gifts of each person.

How could there be bullying?

If everyone already trusts themselves.

How could teen suicide exist?

If they can identify and appreciate what makes them unique.

How could we fight with others if we recognize the differences

as something good, instead of something bad.

How can we feel less if we are busy

in letting our light shine?

I am a mother, a son – of a child, obviously, I am a mother – …

of a child who is 2 and a half years old.

He is very naughty and I have a lot of fun being his headhunter.

As parents we have an opportunity, and I would say a responsibility,

to create a better future.

So that our children can only see the good

in the world and in themselves.

And to solve the problems with an optimistic eye,

thinking about the long term and in a sustainable way.

At this moment there is a state in the world, which is called Rhode Island,

-It is in the USA, it is a small state, of 1 million people -…

It’s an example that, really, when I think about it, combined

with an education more focused on strengths– I vibrate with hope

for our world.

This state was in the last place of a Gallup poll

of job satisfaction. Number 50 of 50.

When these results came out they decided to implement

Strengths at the state level:

police, politicians, education systems, everything.

And now, only 3 years later, they have climbed to # 39.

Eleven posts in three years.

If they continue at this pace, they will meet their goal

of being the first state based on strengths

in about 5 years.

That is less than 10 years.

Can you imagine the possibilities of applying something like this

In our country?

The biggest lie

what have you said to yourself

is that you do not know what you want.

That you do not know what you want in life, that you do not know your purpose.

That you do not know your value. You do know it.

It’s a sensation that you do know, a deep tingling inside of you-

but the voices on the road, in your head,

of the people around you – people who think they know

what is best for you and only want the best for you

but they do not know and only what you hear is this:

“You’re not smart enough, you’re not strong enough,

you’re not brave enough, rich, creative. “

You are enough. Point.

I do not need to tell you this, but it may help you see the truth-

the truth that is hidden by fears, insecurity, lack of resources,

ignorance-.

By taking advantage of your talents

You will find your true essence.

And in this essence, your revolution is your evolution.

I do not only want you to recognize your voice, I want you to serenade the world

with that voice.

When you find your voice, you will know what to say.

By connecting with your heart, people will listen to you.

Imagine the power you would unleash when you found your voice.

Imagine the satisfaction of helping others

to find yours.

Are you ready to create your own revolution?

(Applause)
