La clave para llegar a Marte | Juan Carlos Lopez | TEDxBlvdTeofiloBorunda

[Applause]

I never imagined I would have the

opportunity to work in the

exploitation that happens to them

much less did I realize that the way

in which I grew up in this dynamic in the

border that many of us who are

here we know that that would give me the

key to get to Mars

They also met in a city

a few kilometers south of here

llama chihuahua delights and after

approximately five years of courtship

They decided to get married and emigrate to the

U.S

his main motivation to leave the

from the city where he was born where

they met a motivation

mainly economic

my parents wanted to get a job

that would allow them to establish themselves and

start a family and so without

even being born my life was

marked for the first time by this

border dynamics and his dad

settled in garden grove california

that there is where I was born for those who

they do not know of garden grove is stuck to

the nasa in california that is where my

kim has made the psoe les friends friends that

they were born in Disneyland

[Music]

and after a few months of being born

my parents decided to go back to

delight

this time motivated by something more

staff that was the interest of me and

my future brothers would grow to

side of our loved ones from

our grandparents of our uncles of

our cousins and so it was that the

months after my parents decided

return to delights and the border marked

my life for the second time

I grew up in delights for the

first 15 years of my life and in

December 2005 I was presented with the

opportunity to come to study at

step texas

the plan was to come and study learn

English to finish high school and

eventually go to college for

I can help my parents

this time I made the decision

I consciously know that at 15

years I came with my brother under 12

to study the texas step

although the step was very difficult

I remember that being away from

my of my parents of my friends

I remember crying in the night together with

my brother for bringing our family

however the lesson he taught me

Juarez and step is what defined my

Juarez personal philosophy and step

more allowed to experience and live

that border dynamic that has marked

my life already several times 14,000

people cross the border in juarez on

step every day it seems to me that they go to

I went to study to work to go

moll shopping at weekends for

six years that come to juárez to go

to the doctor to work the machines to

partying also on Saturdays

this constant movement of people

what happens here at the border has done

that Juarez and the step creating a

codependent economy right now so

general an increase in jobs

maquiladoras that are the main

current economic activity is translated

in an increase of works in the area

of services and transportation in step

texas and this dependence on the economy

has made the region passed from the north

be one of the main ports

commercial not only the border

mexico-united states but throughout the

world and this combination of people from

ideas of people of ideology of cultures

what for me is going to give us the key

to get to marc to get to Mars is a

very complex challenge

right now with the technologies that we have

it would take us approximately 6 to 8

months send a crew of

astronauts to Mars and return them

during those months we would have to give

life support systems for

monitor your health and we assure you that

have the food the water that

needs to

we need to develop vehicles

explorers and allow them to move

to different places on the surface

Martian and perform experiments

that’s hard not counting the

trajectories that we have to design

to land at a specific point

on a planet that is millions of

kilometers from here

and despite the fact that the challenge is complex,

difficult, what are we going to do?

to Mars is the next step we have

what to take to make our race the

human race

sometimes interplanetary

the challenge that each one of us has

that we experience this dynamic

border is to appreciate this experience

this value that each one gives us as

individuals

living in this constant interaction

in this dependency between cities

[Applause]

the challenge is that each one of us

be aware of what exists in the

border and be a construct a

bridge builder of opportunities

of colaboration

what we have to do is learn from

Juarez and the step to create systems of

exchange between countries in three

continents between planets

[Applause]

we have to develop those bridges of

collaboration that allow us

transfer technologies ideas

innovations that will allow us

conquer and colonize Mars

this is a photo of the border of

Juarez and the passage

takes for an astronaut on board the

international Space Station

then what I teach these

cities is that they not only give us the

tools to achieve goals

interplanetary to get to Mars

but what can we learn from Juarez and

step too and see it from a

smallest more human perspective of

how you and I can work together

to build opportunities for

achieve a common welfare for

develop to grow for

conquer Mars and farther destinations

thank you very much the

[Applause]
