El que no vive para servir, no sirve para vivir | Arnhoolkg Gélvez | TEDxSantaRosadelSur

Good afternoon. I’m Arnoolkg.

We are here because we are alive.

In other words, the world belongs to the living.

When we are born, we are faced with a world of new things

in front of a sea of ignorance.

But, there is also a world of opportunities.

And, also, a world of threats.

We are ready to begin that path that life puts us.

And there are external elements that affect our development as beings.

The family and the environment

In my case, thank God, my mother had eleven uncles

eleven brothers, sorry, my father, eleven brothers,

22 uncles and two parents.

And in that world of family love, I was allowed to have some principles

of defined homes.

And the environment in which I grew up, this one, the south of Bolivar, where we are.

Somebody told me one day: “Arnold, where are you living?”

And I say: “in the south of Bolivar”.

He hung up on me He never called me again. I lost that friend.

Immediately, I changed the tactic.

Now, when they call me and ask me where I live,

I simply say that I live in paradise.

Notice that Adam and Eve, did not have aqueducts, or sewers,

No electrification, much less Internet, no wi-fi. And they lived in paradise.

Well, we live in our paradise

the south of Bolivar.

Many times we walk and we forget that to take that first step

We spent a year of life.

The mothers, when we gave the famous “solito”, call all the neighbors

to be seen and, when they see us,

We have our faces against the floor. We have fallen.

And from then on, you learn to walk, walk.

Already located in this environment, we lived in a farm in Tibi Bajo.

And we came here, to Santa Rosa.

Eleven hours on foot, to take the market home.

The uncles gave us the market and the next day we gave it back,

another eleven hours

One day, my younger brother wanted to accompany the walk.

And he fucked up so much until we brought him.

Back, tired, with pain in the legs,

under a tree, he began to rest and cry.

At that moment, a helicopter passed.

It was not usual at that time to happen.

And he, with his tears, turned to look and, crying, said:

“Someday, when I grow up, I’ll go in one of those.”

Today, he is a pilot.

That is, thought has power.

The word duplicates it.

And discipline is the way that allows dreams to be fulfilled.

And he said, once, a friend:

“11 hours to go to the store to bring the market!”

He says: “Yes, but that’s a market. Is not it the food?

And to this world we came to that, to eat and sleep “

One can spend many activities, let many activities go by

but without eating and without sleep, after three days, it is ready.

When they give birth to one and it’s in Mom’s belly,

The first thing that grows is the umbilical cord.

And there the mother eats, the child grows and she grows thinner to sacrifice.

One is born, and the first thing they do is cut the umbilical cord

and they put the tit for him to eat.

Then they remove the teat and teach it to the bottle.

And they take off the bottle, and they put the spoon.

And all life eating. When he stops eating, he dies.

Then, my father, his wise way of teaching us to live …

He taught us that relationship between land and life.

That food is produced on earth.

And he taught us that the earth does not eat. But without the earth, it is not eaten.

And, all raised, the six brothers, in that principle of home,

and in the south of Bolivar, again, the environment affects.

Suddenly, without realizing it, in the blink of an eye,

the south of Bolivar is plagued by illicit crops.

Immediately, the chip of all the young people changes us.

At one point in life, we wanted to be millionaires quickly

and be patterns. We changed the chip.

And we did not realize that in that curtain smoke, behind it came a war.

And the paramilitary wave arrived. And all the leaders began to die.

All the leaders

My father had been the founder of the community action board of the village.

There I discovered that I had that chip of community work

and had linked me to all that.

I had no other way than, one afternoon, to go to Buena Vista on foot, all night

Take a plane and leave. And six years displaced, leaving everything behind.

Children, family, work, life plan. And I managed to take only one thing with me.

And there is still, thank God, that is life.

And with it, I drew the rest of the goals.

At age six, there is an opportunity to return to the south of Bolivar

and entered silent, crestfallen, to the econdida, with fears.

And I find the south of Bolivar, my dream of life, my life program,

debased by fumigations with glyphosate.

And all the community dynamics totally dead, finished, desolate, decimated.

Very quietly, we all meet again the leaders.

And the opportunity was given to replace illicit crops with cocoa

with a replacement program.

Right there, we welcomed many people. And, from now on, the environment was cocoa.

I managed to recover the figs. I tried with mom, but I lost her.

He had given him the opportunity.

Because, in the face of adversity, they lose opportunities.

Already in that cocoa dynamic, there is the opportunity to study

in the university and in the course of six years, every Saturday and

every Sunday, crossing 31 km of step and 5 km of pavement,

we accomplished in six years, accompanied by my motorbike,

that’s why I say that we both graduate, take the title of

administrators of agricultural companies.

In this cocoa dynamic, there is an opportunity

A Dutch university studying sustainable business co-creation.

With that knowledge, humbly acquired, that has given the option to put

at the service of humanity, because that is what humans came to serve.

He who does not live to serve, does not serve to live.

And in all those laps that life gave me, I learned that the experts

they could collect all their experiences and all their knowledge and create a manual

how to learn to swim

And I would say that one inclines the 5th right arm,

move the head two degrees to the left, take the oxygen, move the feet

Fin shaped, three times. And you learn the manual.

He throws himself to the chargo and drowns.

Because you learn to swim, swim. And learn to live, living.

Thank you.
