I want you to imagine that you were a 13-year-old three years ago,
13-year-old recently lost his father, mother and brother
a child who is trying to hold on to life, looking for herself and her passions in this journey.
To find these children’s passions; spordan sanata, from the theater to the school
everything has been tried up to different tasks,
he has acquired a certain experience from these, but he still can not find his enthusiasm.
This kid is very ambitious and very curious
and this kid three years ago on a winter day, the first seeds of his current passions
and now he is one step closer to finding himself with those enthusiasts.
Hello, I am Mehmet Ali Makbuloğlu and I am satisfied,
I am the child who is looking for those passions.
(Applause)
Well, what happened three years ago I found my passion for the moment I live?
We lived in Beykoz three years ago and on a winter day,
my brother Mustafa was sick.
At that time, the car did not come out at all because of the snow
and there was no medicine at home …
The closest pharmacy to us was exactly four kilometers away
and at that time my family and brother tried to find alternative solutions,
I was sitting on the run.
I saw an empty medicine box on one side and my drone on the other.
I like to walk around at home,
standing, thinking, self-talk
and on one side I took the empty medicine box, on the other side I took the drone.
Then I put one on top of the other.
Then I had a light in my head and I connected the drone to the drone.
Then I blew drone,
When the drone is stopped, the cord is cut and the medication is lowered.
I said to myself with great enthusiasm,
” If we can not go to the pharmacy, why does not the pharmacy come to us? ”
The idea was very simple, from the pharmacies on duty or near places difficult to access
From pharmacists, he would take a drone drug, carry it, and give it to people.
I was so excited about this idea that I started to sit up in the evening immediately.
The holiday is over, I went to the teacher’s desk at the Informatics Technologies in the morning and played.
When he opened, ” No Mali? ” He said.
” Teacher I take drugs from pharmacies and deliver them to people
I want to make a drone, “I said.
” Okay, very nice, but first you have to figure out how to do drone. ”
When you tell me this,
i went home, i opened my computer
and when I wrote an internete, a video came out.
A child, with a drone in his hand, teaches people 21st century skills,
and he said that Drone was doing that flying drone, thanks to these skills.
Now, after watching that video, I said,
” May I have to do this as well? ‘
I wrote two keywords in the interne:
” Maker ” and ” Turkey ”
Against output to a web site, ” The Makers Turkey. ”
He wrote it in quotes, and you wrote it.
That sentence made me so excited, because I could do it.
Mail, I said, I have a project like this, can you help me.
The next day Ongun Tandan, Ten days a sudden mail came.
” Hello Mehmet Ali, we want to help you.
We are waiting for coffee on Friday. “
After I received this mail, I took it in school, during the lesson and I was very happy.
I smile like that and I went on friday.
I talked to him and he told me again,
Maker culture, using 21st century skills
you will do this project.
Here are the open source platforms you will use software, design,
but there were two concepts I chose here:
21st century skills and maker movement.
Now that I understand these two concepts, my life is divided in half.
Consider a timeline, a milestone in the middle,
when I understand this milestone maker movement and 21st century skills;
Before this, “Before the Maker Movement”
and after that, I call it “After the Maker Movement.”
Well, what I talked about for so many minutes,
What is maker movement and 21st century skills?
The root of the movement of the maker, ” maker ”,
the boy I saw on that video, Kaan,
make, make, so do yourself.
Maker culture man says,
” Learn while teaching, do it yourself, and use open source to do it. ”
In other words, he encourages people to do, to teach and to learn.
Learn while teaching, what? I can give him an example.
The boy I saw on that video, while Kaan told me how to do drone,
he was actually learning how drone could be more innovative.
Along the same lines, I am focused on designing small children
While I was giving thought lessons,
I was learning how to be more innovative.
So when I was teaching, I was learning.
I said, I was doing this pharmacy drone project with the help of maker culture,
how did i do it?
When I first prototyped,
do it yourself and use open source philosophy.
According to a study conducted by the Michigan Tech University,
if a family prints from a 3D printer instead of buying hardware supplies,
during that period, it makes a savings of ninety-three percent.
So if I spend 100 pounds, I can pay 7 pounds, not 100 pounds.
It’s a really big thing.
When I was doing this project, I could get a drill for 2000-3000 lira,
I decided to make my own drone for 400 liras.
Well, how did I do it?
When I started this project, I was excited about a self-confidence,
I was looking for my passions,
but I had no knowledge.
For this, I used open source.
Open source gives you, for example, how do I do the drone?
When I wrote internete, hundreds of videos came out.
In the same way when I write how to make drone’s software,
When I wrote how to design, hundreds of design documents came.
But the best part of it is not here,
The best part of the job is that people who share it do not even want to pay you a penny.
People are sharing there and you get them,
you are modifying them, using them, and sharing them back.
This communal community takes itself one step further in this respect.
Okay, this is my first passion.
What’s your second passion, what are the 21st century skills?
Sinan Yaman has a very beautiful saying:
” Egosu small, heart big, mind clear, hands fast, conscientious and logical intelligence
are individuals who are 21st century individuals. “
Let me explain this in the 20th century, that is, the century we left before,
There were two different cuts: an activists, a fabricators,
I say that to them.
The activists were conscience-conscious, able to lead and imagine,
but they could not produce it.
They could produce fabrics in the same way, but they could not imagine it,
They could see trendi, but they did not have conscience.
Now in the 21st century, these two unite. Conscience and logical intelligence converge
and 21st century individuals are both leaders, producers,
as well as being able to catch up with future trends.
They are very nice, but how do they keep a job?
How can they survive? Here, too, Atatürk tells us,
” I set my dreams, I saw the obstacles in front of my dreams,
lifting the obstacles in front of me, my dreams took place spontaneously. ”
We call this a shorter name in the 21st century,
and the cycle of action.
My vision; to find myself, to find my passions.
For that I am a missionary, a self-governing cult,
To reflect and live the 21st century individual skills in myself
and I decided to do the project,
and in the end I had this mission that I set out and I continued.
I got one step closer to finding myself.
After I realized that, the second period of my life began.
In this second turn, when I threw my first step, I realized that.
Not everyone is as lucky as me.
I want you to understand this very well.
In Turkey today, each child can not achieve their differences.
There are differences, but not all
and after I saw it, I was on my own.
I want to make sure that everyone is aware of it.
The most logical decision I can make for this,
to share ideas with teachers.
I am in training symposiums for this,
I explained the importance of maker culture and the skills of the 21st century.
As I explained this, these teachers, other than telling my dream
I shared it with people and the culture of maker was multiplied by my friend like me.
When I multiplied it, I was not alone, hundreds of my friends like me
At my age, there were great people of my age, and now,
In the following period, maker culture more known in Turkey, more children,
he can take one step further to realize his dreams.
This is a gain I collect and the task I have done on my own
It helped me do it, but what was the win for me?
Now my family is not going to break my enthusiasm
you can do it, they say they think in their own way
I even knew a little bit, ” I do not invent my invention. ”
Or what the hell are you doing at the age of 14?
Hani can not do a lot of people, do you?
But after I told people this, they realized that this culture
everyone can easily do what they want and I have heard this word from my family,
” Make it money, you do it. ”
It made me so happy to hear that I had realized that day,
I have found my passions and find myself, find me in the future
one step closer,
but everything did not go as I wanted.
I made my first protest, did not I?
I made this first prototype a suitable fiyata, it is fairly appropriate,
but when I try to go ahead with the protesters,
I realized this was very difficult.
I just made a flying drone in the first version, a wandering drone,
but in later versions, it needed to fly more stable,
he needed to carry a medicine and he had to leave it once.
While I was trying to do these processes, I realized that it is very difficult to do.
It is very difficult to make a drone according to personal request
and slowed me further, I had to let go of it,
but when I let him go I said to him,
” Because you gave me a maker culture, you got 21st century skills
and since you teach mechanics how to do drone,
because I really learned how drone was done, by the way,
thank you. ”
I thanked him and left him.
I did not think it would be that easy, but I quit.
I had a bit of a sickness, I came home, my brother is looking at me at the door like this,
Apparently he was going to give the idea of our second project
and he said, ” Brother, I want to make that plane of the Star Wars folks,
I want to do drone, can I? “
What if you thought you were the one who could not,
now my family feel to me, I feel my brother.
(Laughing) I could not do it, how would you do it?
I really thought so.
How am I supposed to do this child if I’m forced?
Now, when you want to experience a drone, you have two options in front of you.
You will get a drone that is flying steadily to 2000-3000 liras, you will lose money,
or by spending a more favorable price, time and energy
you will try to make a drone.
I dug this problem into a corner of my mind when I met Atalay
this problem came to the table from scratch.
Atalay is my idiom, he lives somewhere around here
and he is also doing software, I am in the field of mechanical design
I decided to continue, he is doing software.
When we met her, we noticed that everyone really wanted to
he can not make a drone, so it will be both convenient and unworkable,
they can not do such a thing.
So when we realized the problem, we started Pira.
Pira, our new initiative that we are currently working on
and we said that in Pira,
” We are not black, nor white, we are gray ” said.
So what if we make an expensive drone, make a stable drone,
nor do we do something that will make people suffer.
Affordable, stable can fly
and make a personalized drone.
It’s simple, so consider the principle, a main body.
I tell you about our current version
and there are four arms
and these arms are hanging on the main body
and takes off in a modular fashion.
Now while I was working on this project and working on it, I noticed that Mustafa
he can do drone, he can access the experience of doing it while wearing those arms
and at the same time this would be a better deal, not 2000-3000 pounds
and right now, we work on Pira, a person of 25 people.
This team has a nice side, we open the applications with Atalay said,
it is not compulsory for us to have bigger people than us or at which universities
they are not enthusiastic about how many degrees they get
or which projects they are leading,
Of course they are important, but we have to come with their passions and dreams
We said we wanted to, so we opened our applications
and we said,
” Do you have a competency in the field, if it can work for us.
What are your feelings and what do you want to do in our team? “
and these people applied, and now each of our people in our team,
they have a passion, a dream, and become a partner to our dream
and we are taking this project to the next steps.
This is the case now.
Since I have started to live these cultures within myself and together with the projects
I realized that after I went on, I got one step closer to finding myself
and I made these through these two passions; 21st century skills
and thanks to the movement of the maker,
but not just because I made it, but you can do it all.
All of you,
one step further, one step closer
and you can start right away.
Then why do not you start now?
Why do not you start living these cultures for yourself?
You should start.
Thank you for listening to me.
(Applause)
