OSHO Dynamic Meditation – Approachable – First Phase
Hello all,
we go through the
OSHO Dynamic Meditation
I do not focus on this at all
usual instructions.
We will name everything
but we want to look at it in particular
those parts that are rather complicated,
rather difficult,
or quickly misunderstand,
or do not come forward …
so you can benefit optimally
of this meditation.
So when you hear the instructions …
Suppose you hear the instructions
starting with:
“This is a meditation in which you
constantly being aware,
alert and attentive in all
three phases. “And then you hear
something about breathing
which is quite complicated
and not like breathing
what people usually do.
Then you will hear that 10 minutes
of complete madness
-what surely gets your full attention-
And there are 10 minutes
jumping up and down
flat on your feet
with hands in the air.
Another unusual movement.
Then there is a ‘freeze’
and follow it for 15 minutes
from complete standstill
and then there is 15 minutes
dancing and celebrating.
And when you hear that all,
then it is pretty likely
that which was said about consciously,
alert and attentive
right at the beginning
has long since disappeared.
So I ask you to listen
to Osho’s explanation
of that part.
This first meditation
is a meditation
in which you are uninterrupted
alert, aware
must be attentive
in everything you do.
The first
step, breathing;
The second step, catharsis;
The third step,
the mantra, maha-mantra “Hoo”.
But remain a witness,
do not digress.
It is easy to wander
When you breathe,
you can forget it;
you can become one like that
with breathing
that you forget the witness.
But then you miss the punch.
Breathe so quickly
and deep as you can,
stop all your energy in it,
but remain a witness.
Observe what happens
as if you were a spectator,
as if it were happening
someone else happens to you.
As if it is happening
In the body
and consciousness alone
is centered and looking.
You test this during
all three phases.
And if everything comes to a standstill
in the fourth phase,
then you become
completely inactive,
frozen.
Then this consciousness will
reach its peak.
Osho, A bird on the wing, # 1
So the most important sentence is:
“But then you are missing”
So this is like
the base
of this whole meditation.
The second stumbling point is often
the respiration.
Breathing can
be regular
or breathing
can regularly be irregular.
but it is possible too
irregular irregularity.
and that is exactly
what is needed in these first ten minutes:
Total irregular irregular.
without any rhythm
or pattern.
That is absolutely crucial
and we explain
the details of this
later on.
So imagine
it is tomorrow morning.
It is six o’clock
and there you are …
It’s still early…
It is dark.
You are still a bit hazy and
you’re waiting there
and then the music starts
and you begin to breathe
and to breathe
and suddenly you think …
“Gee, what did that man say?
Oh yes …. ‘irregular irregular’.
Right … ok.
And then you know it again …
and you breathe unregulated
irregular and that
are you still alive
ten seconds full
until you fall back
in a coma
and now you are
breathing completely regularly
as a steam engine.
That is treacherous.
Now you ask yourself:
“How the hell am I going?
unregulated irregular breathing,
ten full minutes long? “
There is only one thing
and that is to be aware,
be alert and attentive.
Both of these things
must absolutely go together …
The one can not
without the other.
And Osho explains,
that with active meditations,
the same
when switching in a car;
You go to the limit
in the first gear … then
the second gear
then the third gear.
Every phase depends
of the phase or phases
that preceded it.
So everything depends
of those first ten minutes.
And you understand,
that if it is said: “irregular irregular”
that everyone hears: Chaotic.
But chaotic can not be translated properly
in many languages
such as ‘irregularly irregular’ is meant.
You can stand in front of the mirror
and start breathing
unregulated irregular
and then it does not look
certain chaotic.
Vice versa…
You can stand in front of the mirror
and make something very chaotic
while you actually are
breathing regularly.
So when you breathe,
unregulated irregular,
that means with a breath
that is as chaotic as possible.
And the rest of the chaos
comes from the
natural physical movements
Generate with your body
a maximum amount of chaos.
That is where it is irregularly irregular
breathing is meant for.
So let’s see
what it is about.
Why is this important?
What exactly happens?
Maybe you noticed
that, when you are in a certain condition,
you get angry,
you become upset
you feel rotten,
you become happy,
you get excited
-whatever it may be-
maybe you noticed
that you breathing
a certain pattern has started to follow
in that specific situation.
And that is an indication
the extent to which
your thinking and your breathing
habitually grown together
mainly from
conditioning. Fused.
So when we take ‘thinking’
so to speak
then everyone agrees
that about ten percent of thoughts
the so-called conscious thinking
and ninety percent is unaware.
And then consider
the conscious thinking
if filled with everything
what your mother and father hoped for
that the neighbors would believe
about you.
Everything you do
be proud of and happy with
and of which you want everyone to think
that that’s true
and all those beautiful qualities
of you…
That stays behind
in conscious thinking.
But what about the rest?
The bad things,
the bad things,
that what you’re ashamed of,
that which you certainly do not want
that the neighbors know about you?
The things
what you feel guilty about,
the things you’ve forgotten,
renounced, ignored?
That is tucked away
in the unconscious.
So, there is a separation between
the conscious and the unconscious
what makes it unconscious
is unaware,
invisible.
Unless we discover
how to get there and see
what is there.
Usually there is a separation wall
in between.
Like the Berlin wall
which is very caring
because if someone says:
“How are you doing?”
and you say, “All right, thank you …”
…or so…
then that is quite sincere, because
actually we have no idea
what is in our unconscious.
If we knew that …
what is in the unconscious ..
and someone says:
“How are you now?”
then the answer would sound very different.
Good…
what is interesting in this
is that the unconscious
unjustly has a bad name.
But well considered
the unconscious ensures
for your breathing,
your heartbeat,
your digestion, your immunity,
quite important things.
Almost like the best friend
that you can have.
And reason that the unconscious
a bad name is because it is
belongs to the ‘lost objects’.
Because when the conscious
something against,
and it does not have anything to do with it,
and does not want to look at it,
and feels bad about it
and embarrassed,
it is dumped in the unconscious.
But what is important
to understand, is that the unconscious
has no interest in saving
of all those things.
You could consider the unconscious
as a smart, 12-year-old child
whose job is to take care of you
and for your vital functions.
And the unconscious does not know the context,
it has no knowledge of the world around it.
It only knows what
what comes from conscious thinking.
So the unconscious thinks:
“Jemig, what is that again?
… in the middle of the corridor …
block everything.
Anyway, I’m assuming
that she knows what she is doing. And I
just have to adjust “.
But what is essential,
is that this unconscious thinking
has no interest in it
to keep it there.
This unconscious thinking
is much better off!
And that it stays tucked away there,
is because of the energy of this figure
in conscious thinking.
Because he certainly does not want that
from that mess comes floating up.
Because I like to please everyone
as perfectly normal
and a nice, happy guy!
And I want that mess
not to show the light.
So I do my very best
to always be sure
that’s not one of those bad things
will see the light of day.
Huge effort, effort, effort. Clean appearance.
Pretending to be normal
and everything is fine, thank you.
So, given that it is thinking
and breathing so strong
intertwined are …
By causing chaos
in the body and breathing
touches this figure
completely lost.
So while he tries
always showing how normal
you actually are, he can not
more persist,
is completely upset
and do not know anymore whether it is
Monday or Friday,
can no longer guard the Berlin wall.
And at that moment everything is possible
from the unconscious simply
appear on the surface.
Like the unconscious like it
looks away,
is he glad that it disappears,
he wants it away,
he is no longer able to
to keep hidden and whatever is there
can come out now.
That’s why those first ten minutes
are essential as a transit
for the next ten minutes,
the catharsis.
Make sure the breathing
so deep and so fast and
so irregularly irregular
possible and that you are the
physical movements allows to contribute
to the greatest chaos.
What you actually do,
is shaking off this figure so that
what is in your unconscious
now can come to the surface
in the second phase.
Okay? Bright? Interesting, is not it?
Now we play for a moment
a demonstration of the first phase
with the basic directions.
The first phase: Ten minutes
chaotic breathing through
the nose, let breathing be intense,
deep, fast, without rhythm
without patterning and concentrating
always on the exhale.
The body will take care of itself
the inhalation.
The breath must penetrate deeply
in the lungs
Do that as fast and as hard as you can
until you literally
the breathing is …
Use your natural physical movements
to build your energy.
Feel that it is swelling, but
do not lose it in the first phase.
Has anyone noticed that there is a striking
opposition is between
what Osho says
and the instructions?
Because the instruction says:
“Breathe very deep, very quickly so you
literally one is with
the respiration”.
and Osho says
“You can become one with the
breathing that you
forget the witness. “
Treacherous.
So be sure to come to
this meditation, sit there
many treacherous elements.
The second phase
