When Microsoft started, I did not think it was all risky.
I mean I was very excited about what we were doing.

And, in fact, my father was still willing to let me go back to Harvard

A-Anyway, you know, I … If you’re going to set up a company, it takes a lot of energy,
So, you know, you … and you’re the best
Overcome your feelings, your risks.
I do not think you necessarily, if you gonna start a company,
We should do this at the beginning of your career.
I think there’s a lot to be said about working for a company to learn how to do things,
If you are young, it is difficult to go and rent buildings. They made it hard for me.
The car can not be run when you are under 25 at the time, so you are always taking taxis going to see customers.
People were saying, “Well we’re gonna go discuss a bar.” Well, I can not go to the pub.
This is a fun ’cause I’m telling you, when people first doubt and go “this kid does not know anything”
Then when you show them you’ve already got a good product and you know something,
They actually tend to go to the sea and think “wow … they know a lot … let’s really have an incredible amount with these people”.
Even our youth, at least in this country, had a tremendous asset for us when they reached a certain threshold.
It is difficult to recruit older people because,
They will be a little conservative about whether they should be and risk.
It took 3 or 4 years for the first time before we could get out in a normal work pond.
But these problems come from starting a company, you’d think better than those as part of the fun,
Part of the challenge is part of the excitement.

I salute the graduates to take more direct route to your degree.
For my part, I am happy that Crimson called me, “Harvard’s most successful dropout.”
I think this makes me a superior student of my own class.
I did better than everyone who failed.
But I also want to be recognized by the guy who got Steve Ballmer to leave the School of Business.
I am a bad influence. That’s why I was invited to give a speech at graduation.
If you have spoken in your orientation … less than I may be here today.
I’m in a lot of meetings. My calendar gets very full with those then at night after the kids went to bed,
I’m e-mailing heavily. I get messages during the day, and this is my chance to give long answers.
Then over the weekend, send lots of messages as well. I take 2 weeks a year to go off and read and think.
So I do not cut it off work or anything else. I just strongly try to think about the future,
People get to send me things to read as part of that so-called “thinking week”. So it is a nice mix of things.
About 25% of the time I’m out, traveling around, meeting with clients: Europe and Asia.
This kind of help me think, do we have the right priorities?
What are people responding well to? What do we like to see better?

I love Bridge. Bridge helps you to think. It’s a game that can play your whole life and keep getting better and better
I think that anyone is good at the bridge, many things will be decomposed up,
I really encourage people to participate, I want to thank people who have put things together for junior.

People thought that was funny. This is my GPS: the guy who did nothing until the last minute.
Then when I went to work, that was usually really bad.
It took me a few years to get it. No one praised me because I would do things at the last minute.
I tried to reverse the students that I did not think too who were always organized and that things were done on time.
