Will A Glass Vacuum Chamber Implode?

Hello, everyone!

Today we came to our laboratory again

Remember our last plan

Is it self-assembled vacuum machine?

The intention of the vacuum machine

Is to help degas the silicone mold

There is no bubble in our silicone mold

However, I was a little dissatisfied that this was changed with a pressure cooker.

So we cannot see the internal situation

We can’t see those cool reactions when we experiment

So I went to the supermarket to choose a few glass cookie jars

Curious to try to see if they can also be used as material

This project was inspired by my cousin’s mono loco workshop

He used a glass jar as a vacuum machine in his channel

In the following commentary, I have attached a link. You can go and see

When we use a vacuum machine, the most fear is the occurrence of implosion (inward explosion)

It will cause glass fragments to shoot in every corner and even hurt the horrors you would never want to see.

So we must test this before we officially use them

Make sure they can withstand the pressure of vacuum

Remember when I made a silicone ring in my vacuum cooker plan?

I also made the same design for my glass vacuum tank

The small one I used blue and can be disassembled

Then the big one I used red

Because they are elastic rubber,

Provides excellent airtightness when placed on an acrylic cover

So I think they should work perfectly and I can’t wait to test it

Because my cousin had a size of about this, I started testing it from it.

I will vacuum him and let him sit under vacuum pressure for 10 minutes

I will set up the camera while he is vacuuming and stay away from it

So if it’s really imploding at least we won’t be affected

I also put a flat plastic water bottle inside to make the experiment more interesting

So when we vacuum, we can see the response of the plastic water bottle

Fix the water bottle to the bottom with a little clay

Good fit!

Close the intake valve…

Open row (extract) valve…

Pre-job completed!

I’ve been pumping for 5 minutes now and I haven’t seen anything wrong with it.

This is a good sign

And even more handsome is that the flattened water bottle has now expanded.

At the same time, you can notice that the pressure gauge shows that this is almost the strongest vacuum.

This is very inspiring for me to turn off the vacuum motor

And close both the exhaust valve and the intake valve

The sauce is a vacuum can

Bottles that remain inflated can testify

What happens when I open the air intake valve to allow air to enter?

Let us witness it together

Just in case, I first wear my safety mask

To come and go… Three, two, one…

Awesome!

So as I expected, there is no problem with small glass jars

But this one really makes me feel uneasy

We will take a lot of air out of big glass jars

Adjust, close the intake valve, open the row (exhaust) valve

Wear safety gear, and then quickly slip away ~

Come on!

It takes a little time to pump light

Nonsense because it’s big (ah)

It seems that the bottle has been completely inflated. The pressure gauge also came to 25…

And the glass jar looks… nothing is surprising

I’m still a little worried so let’s wait a few more minutes

See if it can survive, no problem…

Look, everyone is actually quite successful.

The vacuum glass jar is in stable condition, which makes me very excited because now we have large vacuum glass jars that can be used.

We will have a glimpse of what we can do in future experiments.

How much pressure will the problem come to the explosion?

Silly? I didn’t plan to make sauce

But if you guys want to know maybe I can shoot you with a high speed camera

At present, it does not implode does not mean that there is no possibility of this

If there are any small cracks or weaknesses on the glass

Maybe as long as a slight touch will cause implosion

Well, let me wear my safety mask and let the air back

Like it! Come and see

Now… The lid is up

What do you think would happen if I put a bottle of unflattened water in?

Is there a way to make it explode?

Wow! You see! The water is boiling?

Wow!

Um, I think this is understandable

Because we have reduced the atmospheric pressure in the tank

The boiling point of water is also reduced

Let us look at the valve

That’s wonderful

This condition must be the same as when we vacuum the bottle of air

To make this jar explode, the pressure must be about 65 pounds per square inch.

Well, let me help him pressurize it to about 50 pounds

When we vacuum the sauce, the difference in pressure should allow the plastic bottle to burst

Ok, purple bottles have been pressurized to 55 pounds

Now if we vacuum it

Should cause enough pressure to let the plastic bottle come to the small explosion show

Things should not be late (⊜‿⊜✴)

Explosion, explosion, explosion…

It’s too stressful.

Hmmm… maybe it just doesn’t want to show us

Cool!

It finally gave it success!

Well, we’ve finally exploded the plastic bottle. I just started to be successful.

I actually tried about six times before bursting

damn it!

…but not in the glass jar

So the critical point is really like a straitjacket

But anyway we succeeded

What’s more important is that even if the bottle bursts, the glass jar is intact!

This gives me a lot of relief because it means that even if there is a slight impact, the glass jar is OK

This is a good phenomenon

Look inside the bottle completely…

destroyed

I think it is a combination of the pressure inside the bottle and the vacuum tension of the glass jar

The situation is only one death under the wall

To tell you the truth, if you have a big power, you can see the moment the desk is shaken.

The sound wave is too strong and it will be hit on the ground

So it looks like our vacuum glass jar passed the test

Now you guys know what the result is

It is feasible to use a glass cookie jar as a vacuum machine

This is awesome because now we can have a vacuum machine that is transparent and can see the reaction inside.

At the same time, we also made a small explosion show to demonstrate

Hey, thank you for spending a lot of time with me and today’s experiment

Welcome to the next episode

See you then

damn it!
