I have brought you to the mountains today to show you a cool trick that you can do with a lighter.
Over the years I have shown you a lot of ways to start a bonfire without using matches.
But some people in the comments say why not just pack a lighter?
It’s small and it’s compact.
And with a roll of thumb you have a flame.
And it’s true for so long that your lighter works.
A lighter is an extremely good tool for starting a fire,
but they run out of gas and sometimes they get smashed.
You may find something like this on a hiking trail as you walk at your camping space.
If you do, there is no waste.
The reason for it is to iron the wheel and flint still work and can still make sparks.
Now a spark alone is not enough to start a fire.
We need much more than that.
But, that’s enough to get us started.
The first thing to do is find some flat stick.
Relatively flat like this.
Because we will take the side off the wheel …
and drive it slowly down the stick like here.
The longer the stick is, the longer you can drive with it.
What it does is to crumble some of ferrocerium inside …
and do some dust you can use to turn on a flame.
Remember, you will not do it too soon …
because if you do it too quickly it will make sparks and it will burn up.
If you do it slowly, you can scrape the ferrocerium stick to a dust …
without igniting it yet.
You will do it about 40 – 50 times on a stick about 20-25 cm long.
Now by holding your lighter on the side as you drive it you will collect the dust as it is formed,
It falls down and gets caught inside the hood here.
So all we have to do now is to turn it on the head of the material or fire we will ignite.
And now all that takes is a roll with your thumb …
we have gotten fire.
So look here guys, so easy we have fire in our pile of fires
Meanwhile, our little pile of ulmer will I make a small bundle of little twigs …
and we can breathe it into the flame.
Now, in an ideal world, you will put the pile of threshing into your straw bowl before you set fire to it.
But as it’s already started, we can use a plastic card to come carefully under the pile …
And collect the stack on the card. Once you have successfully collected the pile on the card …
Take your straw bundle over and gently turn it over.
And you can see how nice they glow have formed.
It will make a good flame very quickly.
At this point we just have to add some oxygen …
and we have gotten fire.
There it is.
How cool is that?
But if you have something like kitchen roll or kleenex it will be easier.
Just make a pile in the middle of the paper,
and when you give it a spark, the whole paper will burn up.
You can use it as an ignition instead.
And so easily we have fire right away,
and we need our campfire room really fast.
A very easy trick and it will not be much easier than that.
Thank you for being with me in this experiment.
And I’m looking forward to the next video with you.
Ses until then.
