Today I am excited to you this
very cool project. I was contacted about a year ago
by Devon Super Tramp. Who had a great video idea.
He wanted to do Mario Kart in real life. He wanted my help
to make Mario Kart turtles in full size.
But he did not want static objects
he wanted to drive around with them and ride the karts
just like in the game. Here is one of these shields
these things were difficult to make, they are made of fiberglass
and then painted to look like the shields in the game.
as cool as they are as decoration, it was not enough. I had to make them
so that we could drive around. The goal of this video today is to show you
how I changed them into moving ‘target-seeking’ shields. just like in
the game and then show you what they can do. now I did not want to be alone
that they could move, they had to be fast
so I needed a car with a lot of power.
So I decided to take this car from Traxxas, this thing is a beast,
under the right conditions he can reach 60 miles per hour (95 kilometers per hour)
Check this out
Okay we are now in the parking lot, we have prepared the car,
and he is on the controller and ready to go, I wanted to show you why
I wanted to use these cars.
Donuts.
So fast.
I love it
Okay now it’s time to change this car into a driving shield
look at the top of the car and how it is fastened, and I’ll show you how to change it
with the shield. the whole top is fastened with this 4
anchor points
these 4 points that hold the top
are the same points that we will use to attach the shield
to fasten the shield I have first
Put 4 dots of paint on the anchor points
I then aligned the shield with the car
and put it down on the shield so that it left behind four stains of paint
at the bottom of the shield which I then drilled out
after you have made holes in the shield the difficult part comes, you have to align the holes
with the anchor points on the car
and then fasten with the pins from the inside of the shield
since much of this has to be done badly, it is good to memorize
how the holes in the anchor points are oriented
the rear points have holes from front to back
the front points have holes from left to right
with the top of the car you can see
how the car is put together, you can see the drive shaft, the engine
that controls the car and the slot for the battery
the car came with these small rings for the tension
to increase the suspension
I want to do this by the weight of the shield
* Whisper * Here is number three
Sometimes it is useful to have thin arms.
* Whisper * And that’s number four
Okay our shield RC car is ready, let’s see what she can do,
We are back on our driving area, let’s see what it can do with the shield on it.
So I have my mobile phone stuck on the bumper of the car
and has a GPS-based speedometer
and we’re going to check how fast this car can go
I am not 100% sure how accurate this application is
but we are still going to see what results we get
according to the app was the maximum speed
30 miles per hour that is 30 miles per hour (48 kilometers per hour)
with a remote controllable car, how fantastic is that
these things are so fun to drive around
you could probably see that maneuvering at high speed was not working properly
the car tends to tip over
you have good control at low speed
and on straights you have crazy speed
I hope it is clearly visible on the camera
how fast these things go
boys these things are so fun to drive around
and if you want to see more of this go to Devon Super Tramp to watch his videos
where he drives around on a course on a real big one
in the future I am going to show you all the steps to make these shields
so that you can make them yourself, I hope you enjoyed it as much
from looking at these things when I am building and showing to you
thank you so much to view this project and see you in the next video
until then
let’s try again but randomly!
hey guys i am back to answer questions that i have seen
where am I? and who is Nate?
First, I am not in the videos at the moment. second
Nate is my new assistant in training
he will continue to bring all projects and experiments
so give him a high-five to show your support and we’ll see you in the next video
