Using a food processor – Jamie Oliver’s Home Cooking Skills

00:00:00right we’re going to demonstrate how to

00:00:02use a food processor and to do that

00:00:05we’re going to use it to make bread

00:00:07crumbs so bread crumbs what you need to

00:00:10make good bread crumbs is a stale loaf

00:00:11of bread and I find one of these rarely

00:00:13debate ciabatta so you get in

00:00:14supermarkets absolutely perfect for the

00:00:17job because they were baked so long ago

00:00:18they’re really nice and stale when they

00:00:21come back to life when you put them in

00:00:22the oven like they say on pack but if

00:00:25you don’t do that and you just take a

00:00:26strainer pack it’s really nice and dense

00:00:28and stay out so fantastic bread crumbs

00:00:30right here’s our food processor

00:00:32nice big sturdy machine it’s got a lid

00:00:35on the top that screws off it’s going to

00:00:38blade inside that wears around and cuts

00:00:41whatever is in the bowl but steps on

00:00:44like that and this top locks in place

00:00:48here like that when you’re ready to use

00:00:50it so what we need to do Kristina steer

00:00:54the brain up into bits reasonable sized

00:00:56bits to go in that bowl would be chopped

00:00:59you can if you want to take the crusts

00:01:01off all depends how fussy you want to be

00:01:03about your bread crumbs probably about

00:01:05half of that will do in there I think we

00:01:07don’t want to overfill the bowl maybe

00:01:08not a little bit fantastic now the top

00:01:12goes on and machine won’t work until you

00:01:17click this into place there’s three

00:01:19buttons on the food processor there’s an

00:01:21on button and off button that switches

00:01:23the cutter off and on and there’s a

00:01:25pulse button that will only have the

00:01:27blade on as long as you keep the button

00:01:29held in so you can go and the nice thing

00:01:33about that is you’re completely in

00:01:34control with of just doing it very very

00:01:37little if you want to okay so for this I

00:01:40think we should switch it on and leave

00:01:42it because it might take a while to

00:01:43grind or scrum

00:01:47good idea like you’re doing keep your

00:01:49handle with the top otherwise sometimes

00:01:50bits of prep I wrote how fine is that

00:01:54are you happy with that looks good to me

00:01:58super

00:02:09now you can take that blade out and

00:02:11shake it gently and then we need to get

00:02:14every last crumb okay put that back in

00:02:23the next thing we’ll do is some almonds

00:02:26so Engel the almonds normally in between

00:02:32pulsing things and a food processor you

00:02:34would wash the bowl out but bread crumbs

00:02:36are quite a flavorless thing so it

00:02:37doesn’t really matter if you were doing

00:02:39something like garlic or pesto you want

00:02:40to give it a really good clean every

00:02:42time you use it so that so that their

00:02:44flavors don’t hang over into the next

00:02:47dish okay so on goes the lid and I think

00:02:51we’ll do this time Kristina eyes I don’t

00:02:52want them to fine so I just want a very

00:02:54rough chop we’re going to use the pulse

00:02:56button just one one or two more lovely

00:03:11okay

00:03:12got some finding some course in there

00:03:15and that’s just what I’m looking for

00:03:29great lovely perfect and that’s how to

00:03:39use a food processor
