Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food Australia – webcast

00:00:07at the moment in Australia 60

00:00:10and twenty five percent of children are

00:00:12overweight or obese diet-related disease

00:00:15is the biggest killer in the country and

00:00:18you have the first generation right now

00:00:21of children expected to live a shorter

00:00:24life than their parents which in 2010 is

00:00:28ridiculous you know Australia for me is

00:00:31a country full of open-minded cooking

00:00:34incredible produce some of the best

00:00:36chefs in the world and yet even though

00:00:39this cooking shows all over TV there’s

00:00:41this massive health epidemic related to

00:00:44food I want to make this with you a

00:00:46great success I know that the Ministry

00:00:49of Food changes lives it empowers people

00:00:51it saves people money and it makes them

00:00:54happier enjoy food more and most

00:00:56importantly makes them not a statistic

00:00:59it makes you more healthy

00:01:04so the Ministry of Food Australia to me

00:01:06is the start a seed of something quite

00:01:09powerful that can go across Australia

00:01:12it’s not just going to be shops and

00:01:13kitchens in communities that need help

00:01:15it’s also going to be mobile kitchens

00:01:17that can go into the most hard-to-reach

00:01:19areas we really can come to you it’s

00:01:22just basic education a little bit of

00:01:24mentoring hints tips shortcuts how to

00:01:27shop how to save money and how to make

00:01:30beautiful tasty quick meals for yourself

00:01:32or your family you can do it with your

00:01:34kid your boyfriend your mum we take

00:01:37anyone any shape size no matter where

00:01:39you come from we’ll have you even though

00:01:42there’s wonderful restaurants around

00:01:43Australia and this cooking shows on

00:01:45every bloomin channel it’s all great but

00:01:48skin on skin the contact with real

00:01:50people standing beside someone and

00:01:53cooking with them is what truly makes a

00:01:56difference and that’s what we’re doing

00:01:58in the Ministry of Food we’re trying to

00:01:59mimic and replicate you know what mums

00:02:02and dads used to do with their kids on a

00:02:04much more regular basis

00:02:08I’m really excited we’re going to be

00:02:11opening the first Ministry of Food

00:02:12Australia site in Queensland in an area

00:02:15called Apes which which definitely needs

00:02:16our help I can’t wait to get there get

00:02:19the shop opened get the kitchens run in

00:02:21and get the community in there and then

00:02:24for the people of Ipswich you know

00:02:26getting the tools getting the

00:02:28information getting the skills is only a

00:02:30stone’s throw away I’m really proud to

00:02:32be going there I think the community are

00:02:35going to love it I think they’re going

00:02:36to embrace it let’s all get involved and

00:02:38supported
