00:00:14screencast it’s a little bit easier to
00:00:16follow along and we’re going to answer
00:00:18question from one of my readers Terry
00:00:19who posted on my Facebook fan page in
00:00:22response to a post I wrote about Ted
00:00:24Turner saying if you can check out my
00:00:27fan page give me some advice my business
00:00:29how to keep it growing making a success
00:00:31and it’s drop it like it’s hot wings so
00:00:33this is Terry’s fan page and if we load
00:00:35it up we’ll see here it is it’s a
00:00:37business based in Nashville Tennessee
00:00:39and they have 225 people who like the
00:00:42page so the first thing that would
00:00:44recommend is putting a reveal tab on
00:00:46here and this is basically where you
00:00:48create special content or you put a
00:00:51coupon or something to incentivize
00:00:53people to want to become a fan of the
00:00:56page and give you a like so in my case
00:00:58if I load it in a different browser
00:01:00where I’m not sending the facebook if
00:01:02you go to my page you’ll see this so
00:01:05before you see the wall you’ll see a
00:01:07page here if you like this page now
00:01:09you’ll get steve jobs as number one tip
00:01:11for entrepreneurs must help advice from
00:01:13nine other famous entrepreneurs so in
00:01:15order to access this content you have to
00:01:16be a fan of the page and to do that you
00:01:18have to click like we won’t do that
00:01:20because i want you guys that you go
00:01:22through and check it out but basically
00:01:24this is giving some premium content away
00:01:26to people who become fans of your page
00:01:28so looking back at your site if you can
00:01:31offer some premium content or give away
00:01:33a coupon or something extra special for
00:01:36giving a recipe or something else to
00:01:37make people want to sign up for the page
00:01:39and it’s basically the first thing that
00:01:41they see before they hit the wall so to
00:01:43give them an incentive to want to become
00:01:44a fan the next thing I would encourage
00:01:47you to do is try to post a little bit
00:01:49more frequently so I’m loading on the
00:01:51page here i see that you posted august
00:01:53seventeenth and today is the 31st as i’m
00:01:56recording this so it’s been a while
00:01:58since you posted and as i scroll down
00:02:00here I see that you’ve got some fans who
00:02:03are posting which is great so this is
00:02:05yesterday yesterday an hour ago so it’s
00:02:08great that you have people who are
00:02:09posting to your page and talking to
00:02:12you but you haven’t posted anything
00:02:15really except for this post here so you
00:02:18want to make sure that your posting on
00:02:19an ongoing basis to encourage your fans
00:02:22and make them want to get more engaged
00:02:25with your site as well one thing that
00:02:27really helps as I do it and the third
00:02:29bit of advice is to ask questions so
00:02:32when you’re posting you don’t
00:02:34necessarily want to just say hey you
00:02:35know we want to hit 100 likes you want
00:02:38to ask some questions so ask them what
00:02:39their favorite wings are asked them what
00:02:41the favorite time of day is to eat wings
00:02:43or how many times a day they want to eat
00:02:45wings add some fun questions that they
00:02:47can answer you know a couple words and
00:02:49make them want to get involved and more
00:02:51tied to your brand so couple of examples
00:02:54of how I do this if we load up my page
00:02:56here I try to post a couple times a day
00:02:59and usually in the morning or do
00:03:01something about a famous entrepreneur so
00:03:03when when Terry found my page is
00:03:06actually through one of the quotes that
00:03:07I put up a famous entrepreneur Ted
00:03:09Turner so a quote that he put about not
00:03:11quitting go back to my page here so this
00:03:14is today so I shared content about John
00:03:17Johnson a quote from him so i’ll do that
00:03:20usually every morning and then in the
00:03:22afternoon i’ll also try to get people
00:03:23engaged by asking them questions so
00:03:26here’s an example fill in the blank one
00:03:29thing I did to grow my business today
00:03:30was and you know 14 people love to
00:03:33comment on it and it’s usually quick
00:03:35easy things that people can answer
00:03:38without writing too much and it starts
00:03:40getting them involved and then the next
00:03:42time I asked them for something or if I
00:03:43tell them about a cool link I’ve just
00:03:45posted the more likely to click on it
00:03:46because they feel a little bit more
00:03:47engaged with the brand so here again is
00:03:51another one a post that I created and we
00:03:53had no six people seven people like it
00:03:56in some comments going down a quote of
00:03:59the day Lillian Vernon you know 99
00:04:01people like it another question what’s
00:04:04your favorite food to snack on while you
00:04:05work so it’s a fun question that ties to
00:04:08the brand of entrepreneurship and people
00:04:10working but it’s not you know so
00:04:12specific and to Sirius that people don’t
00:04:14want to get involved so we had a whole
00:04:16bunch of people leave comments on the
00:04:18question like that so think about you
00:04:21know post so you can put out on a
00:04:22regular basis that is interesting to
00:04:25people and then also
00:04:26we’ll ask them questions and make them
00:04:28want to get more involved and more
00:04:30engaged with your brand so give them a
00:04:32reason to become a fan of the page so I
