How to Build a Commission Only Sales Force – Ask Evan

00:00:12in today’s pillow I’m going to ask a

00:00:14question from one of my readers Richard

00:00:16who’s trying to build an online business

00:00:17with commission only salespeople he is

00:00:20trying to go from 1 to 10 people right

00:00:23now and roll out across North America

00:00:25hoping that I’ll climb right into a

00:00:27thousand commission only sales people

00:00:29working for him and he’s wondering my

00:00:31advice on how to build up this

00:00:32organization so Richard a couple things

00:00:34for you first up it can be hard to build

00:00:36a commission only sales person type of

00:00:39model when you’re first starting up

00:00:41that’s kind of the dream of every

00:00:42entrepreneur because there’s no cost you

00:00:44going down you only pay me when you’re

00:00:46making money but it’s hard for sales

00:00:48people to want to come on because

00:00:49there’s no track record of success so

00:00:51the best way that you can build it up is

00:00:53to start by showing that hey this works

00:00:55and it can generate sales who can make

00:00:58an income from selling your product or

00:01:00service that first person might be you

00:01:02out there hitting the pavement so you

00:01:05can demonstrate that it works or you

00:01:07might have to go and get your first

00:01:08salesperson and pay a base salary or

00:01:11base you know draw to make sure that

00:01:14they’re able to support themselves while

00:01:16they kind of build up that process it’s

00:01:18gonna be a lot of mistakes that you guys

00:01:20will make together as you first start

00:01:21building this up so you want to make

00:01:23sure you improve the case with one

00:01:25person and that first person might not

00:01:26only be commissioning only sales person

00:01:28so something to think about

00:01:30once you feel to build beyond that first

00:01:32person and you can show that hey this

00:01:34works I would start building a profile

00:01:36of what a typical sales person few would

00:01:39look like so think about the age range

00:01:41think about male-female think about what

00:01:43groups and clubs they would belong to

00:01:45all those types of things that would

00:01:47kind of create a target profile for an

00:01:49ideal salesperson for you and then start

00:01:52hanging up where they’re hanging out

00:01:53Sarah marketing to them start showing

00:01:55them about the opportunity and the more

00:01:57you can connect with those people the

00:01:58greater the chances are that you

00:02:00the attraction with them to become good

00:02:01sales people if you want to build an

00:02:04organization that large you know if

00:02:05you’re talking 500,000 sales people I’d

00:02:07also look at ways to encourage people

00:02:09who do join to refer their friends

00:02:12family colleagues to want to join as

00:02:15well a great way to find new employees

00:02:19for business is look at your existing

00:02:20employee base and see if they know

00:02:22anybody who might be able to help out if

00:02:24the seals who have done a good job when

00:02:26they be able to generate sales then it’s

00:02:28gonna be easy for them to convince their

00:02:30friends to want to join as well right at

00:02:32the fit the right demographic the last

00:02:34thing I would think about is also try to

00:02:36provide marketing support for them so

00:02:38they’ll just expect them to go up picked

00:02:39up a phone book and start reaching out

00:02:41to people see as much as possible them

00:02:43if you can provide some marketing

00:02:45support so if you have your website if

00:02:47you’re doing any advertising think about

00:02:49ways you can help them generate leads to

00:02:51make it easy for them especially in the

00:02:53first few months when they might be

00:02:55excited but it’s hard to generate those

00:02:56first initial leads for the momentum

00:02:58starts building it think boys you might

00:03:00be able to support them if they can see

00:03:02that then it’s going to be a lot easier

00:03:04for you to be able to sign people up to

00:03:05on enjoy and the organization does the

00:03:07risk has been drop a little bit because

00:03:09you’re providing these for them so I

00:03:11hope that helps and have a lot of
