00:00:06in a previous project I found a free TV
00:00:10and turned it into a giant solar
00:00:12scorcher this shoots out a deadly beam
00:00:14of sunlight that’s hot enough to abuse
00:00:16food melt metal and burn things you
00:00:19probably shouldn’t
00:00:22[Music]
00:00:35today’s seemed like a good day to play
00:00:37with my solar scorcher I positioned my
00:00:39frame and found the focal point then
00:00:41added some concrete tiles as a base for
00:00:43my projects okay I’ve got power and I’ll
00:00:45test it out with this piece of wood and
00:00:47when the light makes contact
00:00:48I’ve got instant fire the sunlight at
00:00:50this spot is around 2,000 degrees
00:00:52Fahrenheit enough to melt this spot of
00:00:54concrete into a glowing orange liquid
00:00:55I’m curious to see what I can do with
00:00:57all this heat so I fill the glass bottle
00:00:59with water and I’ll punch a hole in the
00:01:00cap it’s incredible to see that the
00:01:02instant I focus my lens on the bottle it
00:01:04starts smoking just a few moments later
00:01:06this water is so hot it’s boiling and
00:01:08I’m a little nervous the bottle might
00:01:10blow yep there it goes the glass pieces
00:01:12are melting and that’s cool but now I
00:01:14want to try this on some food I’ll get
00:01:16some hot dogs and when they hit the beam
00:01:17they really do get hot this might be a
00:01:20little well-done for my taste and I’m
00:01:22still hungry
00:01:22so let’s try an egg the egg is actually
00:01:25working very well it’s so reflective it
00:01:27doesn’t burn as fast and even my wife is
00:01:29interested a little salt and pepper and
00:01:31it’s tempting to try a bite okay so I
00:01:33wasn’t actually expecting to eat this
00:01:34but it looks safe enough and even my
00:01:36kids are anxious to try surprisingly
00:01:38it’s pretty good alright let’s see what
00:01:40else this will do
00:01:41I’ll try burning a penny and wow it
00:01:43melted how about a stack of pennies
00:01:46yep they’re nothing but liquid metal now
00:01:48and I’m thinking that slag in the
00:01:50mixture must be what’s left of the
00:01:51copper coating it’s only taking about
00:01:53four seconds to melt these and melting
00:01:55metal is really great but now I want to
00:01:57see something first
00:01:58I wonder what would happen to this egg
00:01:59it’s spewing some kind of debris and
00:02:01smoking like crazy I hear some little
00:02:03pops and it’s even forming some
00:02:04interesting gross look at that but no
00:02:07explosion how about if I put a pop top
00:02:09on this bottle of water and let the
00:02:11pressure build up yeah that’s what I’m
00:02:13looking for
00:02:14let’s do that again the lid is back on
00:02:16and pressure is building awesome alright
00:02:20the Sun is setting and I’ve readjusted
00:02:21my a-frame I’m just wondering if this
00:02:23would ignite gasoline it does hopefully
00:02:25it goes without saying that this is very
00:02:27dangerous and you shouldn’t try this at
00:02:28home well I’m convinced there’s an
00:02:30insane amount of power behind these
00:02:31lenses if you’d like to see where I got
00:02:33this one take a look at my video on how
00:02:35I hacked it out of an old TV this one
00:02:37boiled water in less than a minute
00:02:38welded a nickel to concrete and
00:02:40instantly torched any piece of wood in
00:02:42its way well that was fun but I’m still
00:02:44hungry so I’ll put everything away and
00:02:46go get some real home cooking that’s it
00:02:48for now if you liked this project
00:02:49perhaps you’ll like some of my others
00:02:51check them out at the king of random
