00:00:08one of the food team and today I’m going
00:00:09to show you how to assemble an apple
00:00:11berry pie this is the pastry the apple
00:00:14pie I’m going to cut a third of it off
00:00:19and put it to one side and this I’m
00:00:25gonna dust with flour watch the rolling
00:00:29pin the flare just to make sure it
00:00:30doesn’t stick I’m gonna roll this out
00:00:33slowly carefully turning down then roll
00:00:40it out into a circle but half a
00:00:44centimeter thick or about the thickness
00:00:45of a pound coin no it’s about the right
00:00:50size on my pie dish I’m gonna roll the
00:00:52pastry up on the rolling pin place the
00:00:56package here and then unroll it back
00:01:00over the top very carefully
00:01:09set the pastry into the dish press it in
00:01:15place and let the excess hang over the
00:01:18edge don’t worry about that we’ll come
00:01:19back to that later this is the filling
00:01:22for the Apple berry pie nice and cold
00:01:28just spin it into the pastry do a little
00:01:35press so it fills the pastry case evenly
00:01:42there we go and the rest of the pastry
00:01:50and a roll out just like the other piece
00:01:55to a rough circle that’s gonna fit the
00:02:00top of the pie dish I’m gonna brush the
00:02:03pastry with a little egg wash it’s gonna
00:02:05help the base of the pastry and the lid
00:02:07of the pastry stick together and make a
00:02:10lovely pie doesn’t need to be soaking
00:02:13just needs to be wet for it to stick
00:02:15there you go that’s fine I’m going to
00:02:18unroll the top of the pie over the
00:02:20bottom set them well together
00:02:28never brush the top of the pie with some
00:02:31beaten egg I’m going to sprinkle the
00:02:37crumble mix over the top and the egg
00:02:43wash is going to help it stick the
00:02:45chronal mix is what’s left over from
00:02:47making a pastry know a little Demerara
00:02:50sugar the crumble mix and sugar gonna
00:02:54make the top of this pie incredibly
00:02:56crunching delicious no I will fold the
00:03:00overhang on the pastry that’s hanging
00:03:03over the edge of the pie dish back on
00:03:05itself
00:03:06twisting crimp
00:03:17I’m going to brush the edges through the
00:03:21egg wash with the tip of the knife just
00:03:24make a little cross in the top of the
00:03:28pie that’s like the steam come out help
00:03:31it cook and look beautiful that comes
00:03:32out of the oven this gets cooked at the
00:03:35bottom of our preheated hot oven for 40
00:03:37to 45 minutes till golden brown crispy
00:03:40and cooked through
