00:00:00[Music]

00:00:00ok the next movement we’re going to talk

00:00:02about is the war in Iraq and basically

00:00:06what we’ll just call today’s global

00:00:11struggle or social movements today that

00:00:14really caused people to get up and right

00:00:16now artist thing we would associate with

00:00:18this are our artists that we we really

00:00:21would associated with this are people

00:00:23like greenday who I would kind of call

00:00:24the usual suspects you know I mean

00:00:26they’re American Idiot is just a perfect

00:00:28example of what they do and but other

00:00:31artists have gotten involved here too I

00:00:33mean a girl group like the Dixie Chicks

00:00:35whoo-hoo you would think really couldn’t

00:00:37be more benign if you recall um at the

00:00:40beginning of the 21st century they

00:00:42actually were having their albums burns

00:00:43like it was Nazi Germany and and all

00:00:46this because they got up at a concert

00:00:48and they said well they weren’t really

00:00:49happy that they came from the same place

00:00:50as george bush and apparently you don’t

00:00:54say that hmm um if you want to continue

00:00:57to have a to have a vibrant singing

00:00:59career now of course a lot of people

00:01:02garner respect like including myself for

00:01:04the dixie chicks who might not have

00:01:05taken note of them kind of turned around

00:01:07and said well ok they have something to

00:01:08say and they’re standing up for it and

00:01:09you can really appreciate although both

00:01:11green day and the dixie chicks are great

00:01:14current examples i think probably a the

00:01:17best song to encapsulate this movement

00:01:19is all these things i’ve done by the

00:01:21killers and let me quote it for you they

00:01:22they essentially say i’ve got soul but

00:01:25i’m not a soldier I really like

00:01:27happiness they kind of asserted it’s

00:01:29okay to love your country and to you

00:01:32know and to want to protect it and to

00:01:34want to keep it safe but but potentially

00:01:35not to want to go to work I’m not to

00:01:37send your child off to go to war before

00:01:39he’s you know before he was old enough

00:01:41to drink

00:01:42and get killed and potentially there’s

00:01:45another way yeah
