00:00:10this year the mini was redesigned we
00:00:12caught up with Stephen McDonald director
00:00:14of many to talk to them about the change
00:00:17so Tulsans Stephen why the redesign well
00:00:20it’s not so much that we redesigned the
00:00:22car and actual fact one of the things
00:00:24that are owners told us that they’re
00:00:25like most about the car was the design
00:00:27of it if you look at the car the most
00:00:28notable thing first of all is that the
00:00:30front end of the car has raised in
00:00:32height and that really is to accommodate
00:00:34the changes in a report the new
00:00:35pedestrian safety standards the back of
00:00:37the car has also been redesigned at an
00:00:39actual fact everything from the roof
00:00:40downwards is brand new on this car even
00:00:43though from first appearance it looks
00:00:44very similar to the previous generation
00:00:46mini the biggest changes really come
00:00:49under the hood because what we’ve done
00:00:50is we put in place a brand new set of
00:00:53engines in both the Cooper and the
00:00:54cooper s under the Cooper it’s no an
00:00:57all-aluminum construction it’s a
00:00:59demob engine that delivers approximately
00:01:02twenty percent better fuel consumption
00:01:04in the old vehicle the cooper has we
00:01:06have a new feature called a twin-scroll
00:01:08turbocharger what the twins Bowl
00:01:10turbocharger does is that it virtually
00:01:12eliminates that very traditional turbo
00:01:14lag what it means therefore is that you
00:01:17get ninety percent of the torque from
00:01:19about 1600 our p.m. onwards so this car
00:01:21really performs at a low rpm the mini is
00:01:24grown by about three inches in length
00:01:26most of that that length has been added
00:01:29within the rear seat allowing rear seat
00:01:31occupants to have a little bit more
00:01:33legroom is a little bit of additional
00:01:34trunk space not only in length but also
00:01:37in depth so you can store more things in
00:01:39your mini the next biggest changes in
00:01:41the interior of the car it’s all new
00:01:43it’s more premium it has higher grade
00:01:46plastics and materials it has additional
00:01:48features and of course it still looks
00:01:50like the mini looks with a central
00:01:52binnacle showing the speedometer and the
00:01:54rev counter right in front of you and in
00:01:56the current car you can have navigation
00:01:58combined with a speedometer in the same
00:02:00dial the other changes obviously are
00:02:03much more subtle and that’s where the
00:02:05true mini aficionado probably will have
00:02:07to compare their existing car to the new
00:02:09car to really see those
