00:00:04my father owned it actually was an old
00:00:08bakery when I was growing up my my
00:00:10father was an electrician and a
00:00:12refrigeration man we would install
00:00:15supermarkets you see the long freezer
00:00:17cases in supermarkets we would install
00:00:20those long freezer cases and all the
00:00:22lights that’s what we that’s what we
00:00:24would do every summer yeah so this is
00:00:27one year my father had his shop and he
00:00:30decided for whatever reason that he
00:00:33wanted a new wall on the front of his
00:00:36shop so he tore down probably about 16
00:00:40feet high and probably about 30 feet
00:00:43long he just completely tore the wall
00:00:46down and my brother and I had to dig a
00:00:48six-foot hole we were the main station
00:00:50for the foundation we were mixing the
00:00:52concrete by him
00:00:55a year and a half we were building this
00:00:57wall for a year and a half every day
00:01:00after school we become a mixing concrete
00:01:02put into the hall doing it and it was
00:01:04just myself and my little brother and I
00:01:07remember standing back looking at that
00:01:09wall saying there’s gonna be a hole here
00:01:12forever a year and a half later we laid
00:01:18the final brick and my father stayed
00:01:22back with my brother nine I know he plan
00:01:24as he says he that he says he did but I
00:01:26know he had been planning this and
00:01:28rightness for his endeavor for the past
00:01:31two years but he we stood back we looked
00:01:34at the wall and looking at my brother
00:01:36don’t y’all never tell me can’t be
00:01:39something
00:01:45I learned very young from them from my
00:01:49parents absolutely that you you don’t
00:01:52try to build a wall you don’t set out to
00:01:56build a wall you don’t say I’m going to
00:01:57build the biggest baddest greatest wall
00:02:01that’s ever been built you don’t start
00:02:03there you say I’m gonna lay this brick
00:02:06as perfectly as a brick to me lay there
00:02:10will not be one brick on visit earth
00:02:12that can be made that it is brick then
00:02:14I’m gonna lay in this next ten minutes
00:02:16and you do that every single day see it
00:02:20soon you have a wall and I think
00:02:22psychologically the advantage that that
00:02:25gives me over
00:02:27a lot of people have been in competition
00:02:30in the different situations is too
00:02:33difficult to take the first step and
00:02:35look how big in the task the task is
00:02:39never huge it’s always one relative
00:02:45for me it was always my biggest dream
00:02:49coming up was I wanted to hear one of my
00:02:53records on the radio that was it that
00:02:55was it that’s what I wanted to I wanted
00:02:56to hear one of my friends on the radio
00:02:58and I wanted to see someone hear my
00:03:03record on the radio and in June 1986 I
00:03:08saw a guy ride past my father’s shop you
00:03:11know his head you know so from you know
00:03:15from that point I’ve really been beyond
00:03:19beyond my dreams
