I have another little anecdote for boards today

When I was working as a teacher for an academy in Seville
I had to do the lessons very early every morning
in large government organizations
they were in charge of the medical assistance or the permissions
you know … a little boring … but you know
It was important for them to learn English
and I really loved doing these classes
because I could teach people very powerful, dynamic and interesting
They had very low levels of English
but you could see that they were very intelligent and they learned things very quickly
I had great moments teaching them
Although, many heads were a bit old
and quite serious
And, normally, it was my young students with whom I could spend some good times
and make a little joke.
but some of the great old heads
They were very serious, they came to learn
There were no smiles or laughter
Now that, I had a student who was called
I will invent the name, we will call it Ramon
OK, it’s not your real name, it’s just the reason for the video
Ramon, was about 60 years old
he, it was very serious and it was a very high chore in the company
he was what the Spaniards would call: “jefazo” (in Catalan, none)
ok, and … when you asked Ramon a question
he responded very convinced, as if you know what he said was true
even if it was a terrible English
You will be like: “wow, Ramon was very shocking!”
And so, Ramon was very much: he spoke like this!
OK, in fact, Ramon had a very low level of English
and I asked him once, in front of everyone:
Ramon, what do you do for the weekend?
and he said
On Friday, I eat out my sister
And on Saturday, I eat out my mother too
and I was like
Oh my goodness! How can I correct this?
unfortunately I was not professional and I laughed
and he looked at me saying: is it wrong?
and I said
You left an important word
and the word is “with”. It should be: I eat out with my sister
and sometimes I eat out with my mother too
What he said was actually a sexual act
that a man .. does about the woman
I’m sure you can imagine it is
Afterwards I explained to him what it meant
and he said: “no, it does not mean this, I have said it be”
and I said: “No, Ramon, that means, and what you said is wrong.
and replied: “No, I have been all my life saying this and have never been corrected”
and I said: “Your teachers probably were ashamed to correct you
“you need to add” with “, otherwise it sounds bad”
and he said: “I do not believe you”, and it was like
“go home, look at google, go back tomorrow and tell me that we do not believe”
he left, he returned the following day, he did not say any word of the subject
I think the Ramon learned in the wrong way
He learned in a bad way that you have to believe your teacher when he says
You should not say anything
Now, Ramon was a great student, I had great times teaching it
but it was fun after that to say something so ridiculous
he was so much … stunned as to what he had said!
He had sworn by the life of his mother that what he had said was in perfect angles
and not a bad thing
