Beautiful.

Lady.

Goddess.

Or not that I’m all they expected to see?

Public: Yes!

“Yes”, what liars they are.

Re that in the background someone is: “Che, I do not know if it’s so beautiful … huh?

I for the stand goddess expected a little more. “

There is someone else in the background saying: “I do not see her here, really.

Let’s wait for the video to decide, right? “

Beautiful.

Lady.

Goddess.

Capable someone is: “I do not even know what the stand up is”.

Can be? Is there someone in the room who is in that condition?

She? She laughed as well as …

I will explain it in a very simple way,

so that we all understand.

The stand up is a way of making humor, in which there is a comedian

above a stage,

completely alone,

in front of an audience,

with the intention of making people laugh

Beautiful.

Lady.

Goddess.

What do these categories have to do, right?

In the stand up, women comedians present us in that way.

Beautiful.

Lady.

Goddess.

Categories that have nothing to do with the ability, or not, to make people laugh.

It is not true?

And categories that, in addition, they would never use

to present a male comedian.

Never in a stand-up show will you hear saying:

“We now receive the most beautiful comedian of Argentina.”

Never. That does not happen.

Why?

Because we live in a society

that is still macho.

And the stand up is, therefore, still macho.

Humor has no gender.

However, categories such as “female humor” appear.

Humor is humor. And period.

Do not?

We are in the Faculty of Law and I think that nobody here would think to say

that a lawyer exercises the “feminine right” for being a woman.

Do not?

When I started my career,

a colleague invited me to participate in a charity event.

I was too exited,

but he made jokes about sex.

Then I checked it before, I said: “Che, do you know my material?

Do you think this gives for me to go and introduce myself? “

He says: “Yes, quiet, it’s a solidarity event, fifth year boys,

One Saturday night. All quiet. “

Barbarian.

We go to the event together.

Five hundred people For me at that time it was like …

A lot of people!

Excited, waiting.

He goes on stage.

He makes sex jokes,

He says bad words.

All great, people super high.

I climb the stage …

I say the word that starts with “pi”

and ends with “to”

and I automatically see the faces in the audience transform.

Suddenly it was like …

total hostility.

I saw them all, I saw how a lady got up from her seat and she was going to complain.

The same companion who had invited me made me …

I practically went down crying, I’m honest.

I got off the stage very badly.

And when I went down I looked for an explanation

and I met one of the organizers of the event

and he says: “Yes, the event is for the fifth year boys,

but it is so that those of first travel to mission to the north of the country “.

I said: “That’s it, it’s obvious why my material did not work.”

But, did you see when you fight with someone, that you leave and, after a while, you say:

“Oh, I should have told you this, this and this”?

The exact same thing happened to me.

After a while I was like that in my house thinking.

And I said: “Momentito …

I traveled two hours one way, two hours back,

I did not charge a peso, I went with my best will,

and I’m almost stoned again.

My colleague made jokes that were louder than me, he used bad words,

and nothing happened”.

At that moment I dropped the file:

It was not the event,

It was not my material.

The problem was being a woman.

Humor has no genre, but the environment of comedy

It will make you feel and believe that yes.

The other day I wrote to a producer, because I found out

that there was a new place to stand up,

and I wrote to ask for a date,

to tell him that he had availability to act.

He nailed me the seen.

Basically

And I said, “Well, he’ll be busy.”

And then, talking to another colleague, he says: “What happens

is that he has a problem with women.

He does not invite women to act

because he says that women are not funny. “

In addition to having a prejudice about him, what he is doing, being a producer,

is to decide by the public what is and what is not funny.

What is worth it and what is not worth seeing.

I’m going to tell you a joke now.

They are ready?

A blonde and a brunette are walking through a park.

Suddenly, the brunette says: “Oh, how disgusting! A dead bird!”

And the blonde says: “Where? Where?”

With a little delay, right?

What are we laughing about?

I am convinced that the road to a more egalitarian society

Start by asking us simple questions like this one.

What are we laughing about?

That joke is used by Alejandro Angelini,

who is one of the parents of the stand up in Argentina,

to explain the basic structure of the joke.

We, in stand up, have:

a premise and an auction

What is a premise?

An affirmation of reality, yes?

Something that we take for true and that the joke will confirm.

What are we laughing about?

How silly the blonde is looking for a dead bird in the sky.

The implicit premise there is prejudice: “blondes are silly.”

It does not mean that all jokes are prejudices. Do not.

But he uses it because it helps him explain it very easily.

And I chose this joke that he uses because it also helps us to see

how many times we laugh

and we do not stop to ask what we’re laughing at, right?

One laughs at a joke and does not say: “I laugh because …”

But it’s good to start becoming aware,

because this happens so much at the level of the public,

like the comedian.

The mandates, the prejudices, are so installed in our unconscious

that we do not see them

The comedians,

stand-up comedians, specifically,

we make jokes that are our vision of the world,

our opinion on certain topics.

And sometimes,

we affirm things that are …

At least,

controversial

Not to say horrifying.

I am currently doing an investigation

for which I took videos of women comedians

and I showed them to other women.

And I asked them: “What did you find funny?

If something was funny to you, right?

Of all the jokes they saw, one of the most funny

was one that talked about hiding the roll

and it said something like:

“Hide the roll even if you’ve been with the same man for 14 years.”

What are we laughing about in this case?

The premise that remains in force, circulating there, is:

“the woman must be skinny, not have rolls, or, if you have them, hide them”.

But it remains: “the woman must be skinny.”

With this I do not want to say that you do not have to make jokes

about “women should be skinny.”

But we do ask “what are we laughing at?”

It helps us to become aware.

Because we can make humor by reinforcing stereotypes

or fighting them.

But we have to be aware, otherwise the thing does not change.

Anyway, I think the worst thing we can do, in this case,

is to judge the comedian who makes the joke.

Yes?

Feminism, in addition to a theory, is a practice.

And it is built on the basis of allowing us to make mistakes

to rethink and change.

That’s why I say: “He who is free from mandates,

let him throw the first stone. “

I am part of a show, whose name is the literal translation of the stand up

and the feminine.

At first, the truth, we do not reflect much on this.

It was the name of WhatsApp and it was.

It was the WhatsApp group. Well, name of the show.

We did not realize, but suddenly, we ended up with this logo.

The girl in the bathroom, fuchsia, black background, with the microphone.

And, suddenly, one day we realized

that we were acting in shims, super tight and shiny, and tacos.

And we stopped and said:

“This, does it represent us?”

Like we had an attack saying: “This can not be, this is terrible”.

What did we do then?

(Laughter)

We had no better idea than to add a mustache to the logo.

Horror of horrors.

But, well, the important thing is that, today,

our wardrobe, our graphic, adapts a little more

to what we are.

But, undoubtedly, the first starting point was to turn on the question mark

and modify each time the alarm sounds with the answer.

I, until now, talked to them about humor because that is what I do.

But it is important that we realize

that stereotypes, mandates, prejudices,

we reproduce them, again and again, in all the discourses that circulate in society.

In each and every one of them.

We have to be aware of this if we really want to change it.

I heard an advertisement on the radio today,

It was from a prepaid and it read like this:

“Wait for 40 minutes outside the tester

Reminds you why you chose it:

The good things make you wait”.

My idea is that, at this moment, let’s transform the question

“what are we laughing at” in “what ideas are behind this”.

That question is key. What ideas are behind this advertising?

That women love to go shopping. That take 40 minutes in the shopping.

That drag the man to this situation.

That men have to endure this situation

because women have to be made to wish.

That women have to be hysterical with men.

We can continue like this, reflecting, a lot of time

before the prepayment is the initial message.

This happens with the best and the worst intentions.

There are advertisements that try to break this.

That, suddenly, they tell you …

A deodorant, right?

It tells you: “Highlight the beauty that is in you”.

It is based on the premise that women have beauty.

Somewhere in the body you have to have beauty.

You only have to detect where and highlight it.

This also happens with deodorants for men.

Men are not required to hide the scroll.

They are not required to be an exponent of beauty,

but, suddenly, a man’s deodorant advertising

that has the slogan: “Even the angels will fall”.

What ideas are behind that?

That, if you’re a man, your north has to be to specify the largest amount

of possible sexual encounters, because that is the masculine ideal.

Yes?

Now I want to propose a game.

When they leave here, the first thing they find in the media,

whether on TV, on the radio, on the street, a poster, an advertisement,

Ask him the question: “What ideas are behind this?

Because that question enables us to ask other questions,

simple,

but that serve to make us realize what is behind.

I’m going to do it first, with an example.

It’s a game that I’m interested in doing.

I do not know if he’s so full, you see?

Because asking and wondering, sometimes, is a bit annoying.

But, we would all love children at the age of why

and that clearly does not happen.

I’m going to do it with this magazine cover,

to show them how the game works.

We see a woman, with a skirt, a vacuum cleaner, a shirt.

He says:

“Blonde and 25 kilos less,

six months after being a mom,

reveals the secret of his new figure

and the plan to marry Pedro for the second time

before having your third child.

Why he decided to devote full time to the family

and how it fuels the passion in the couple “.

What ideas are behind this?

To be a housewife you have to wear tacos and pollera.

You have to have a hand like hiding the scroll.

You have to marry more than once with the same person.

You have to choose whether to be a housewife or be a professional.

Why is it important, immediately after being a mother,

lose weight and dye blond?

The game works like this.

My idea is that you do it when they leave.

I think asking is fundamental,

because the comedian who makes a joke reinforcing that the woman must be skinny

he does it without realizing that the premise “the woman must be skinny”

bombed her from all corners of her life.

And we have to be aware of this.

There are comedians who present you as “the beautiful”, “the lady”, “the goddess”

and they do it with the best intention.

They do it as saying: “I ask for a loud applause.”

They use those categories as: “Dale, you can, I trust you!

And how could such categories cooperate with laughter?

We have to be aware of this, in the mood,

and in all levels of life.

Please, I ask that, when you leave, make this game.

Maybe they hate me a little bit,

because asking is very difficult, as well as annoying.

It’s difficult, because every time we ask a question,

inevitably, we are looking for an answer.

But, if you do this game, and they go, and they hate me a little bit,

I will be happy,

because we started the path to a more egalitarian society,

more just and, above all, a society that laughs about better things

to be “the goddess of stand up”.

Thank you very much.

(Applause)
