00:00:12what our readers Christopher who is a
00:00:14budding speaker in leadership and
00:00:16business and wanted to get my opinions
00:00:19on how we could get more well known as a
00:00:21speaker so Christopher I would advise
00:00:23you to start at the start so look for
00:00:26any opportunities you can find to speak
00:00:28even if you’re not getting paid for so
00:00:30look for a charity groups looking for
00:00:32student groups look for business groups
00:00:34let them know who you’re about and try
00:00:37to get more practice speaking it’ll do
00:00:39two things for you one it’ll start
00:00:41building momentum so you’ll see then
00:00:44there’s there’s a track record building
00:00:45you can say you’ve spoken at all these
00:00:47different events and second it will help
00:00:49you become a better speaker it’ll help
00:00:51you hone your message you’ll do the find
00:00:53out what you’re really good at and what
00:00:55what parts of your message resonate
00:00:57really well with your audience so it’ll
00:00:59make your presentation a lot better so
00:01:01when you go after paid gigs you have a
00:01:04better product to go ahead and pitch
00:01:05them the next thing I advise you to do
00:01:08is get on youtube if you’re really good
00:01:11at speaking and you can touch an
00:01:12audience you’re covering a really
00:01:15popular topic in leadership get on
00:01:17youtube and start spreading your message
00:01:18so previous videos it could be through a
00:01:21question-and-answer format like I’m
00:01:23doing right now or it could just be you
00:01:25on screen speaking away talking about
00:01:28whatever topic you’re really passionate
00:01:30about but if you get on YouTube
00:01:31opportunities will start to open up for
00:01:33you as people can see you you basically
00:01:35want to try to get as much exposure as
00:01:36possible if somebody finds your video
00:01:38really likes it you’re likely to email
00:01:40you or pick up the phone and call you if
00:01:42you leave your phone number and so
00:01:44opportunities will come if you have
00:01:46really good content to share a little
00:01:48bit about what I did my story when I was
00:01:51first started speaking I partnered up
00:01:52with a non-profit group and they were
00:01:56targeting entrepreneurs and I offered
00:01:58for free to come and do a couple
00:02:00chops and the first way I did I think
00:02:03we’ve had four people come out to so not
00:02:06a great turnout but then the next one we
00:02:08had six and then 10 and then 20 and
00:02:10pretty soon we’re filling rooms and you
00:02:12have people coming back and then telling
00:02:14their friends and you have a series
00:02:15going and you start to generate a lot of
00:02:17excitement we were able to make
00:02:19partnerships with major corporations and
00:02:21banks were able to get part of it and
00:02:23help sponsor it so that all led from a
00:02:26tiny little workshop series that I
00:02:28started with a non-profit and it grew
00:02:30from there so get started that’s the
00:02:32core message one final thing that you
00:02:35all you want to do is create a really
00:02:36good about me page so hopefully have a
00:02:38website on there you want to showcase
00:02:40all the stuff that you’ve done you can
00:02:42put your YouTube videos you can put all
00:02:44the different workshops that you’ve done
00:02:46the different organizations if you’ve
00:02:48been in the media put all that stuff
00:02:49there as well so that if a potential
00:02:52customer lands on your site and they
00:02:54have an opportunity they see if hey this
00:02:56guy has done a lot of great stuff I want
00:02:57to get in touch with members you want to
00:02:59make it really easy for somebody to say
00:03:00yes I want a higher Christopher so I
