00:00:05important part of my philosophy of
00:00:08cooking here
00:00:09it’s about reclaiming your kitchen I’ve
00:00:12worked in so many homes over the last
00:00:14five to ten years and I can’t tell you
00:00:16that you guys out there have done
00:00:18everything you can to make your life
00:00:22really hard in the kitchen so what’s
00:00:25happened over the last twenty thirty
00:00:26years is the hub of the home the kitchen
00:00:29has been invaded by the kid play rooms
00:00:31bedrooms the front room it’s literally
00:00:33coming to your kitchen and I’ll tell you
00:00:36one thing it doesn’t matter how big or
00:00:37small your kitchen is actually the
00:00:39smaller the better sometimes to an
00:00:40extent but what I’m saying is we need to
00:00:43rethink how we operate the kitchen
00:00:44we need to declutter get rid of the
00:00:46rubbish I’m talking about pencil cases
00:00:48toys I’m talking about random boxes and
00:00:51tins and you know telephone number album
00:00:54books stuff everywhere and it’s really
00:00:57about getting rid of that stuff
00:00:58reclaiming your kitchen and then you’re
00:01:01in a clear frame of mind where you can
00:01:03rock and roll and rattle out beautiful
00:01:06tasty meals seven days a week get your
00:01:08kitchen back get the animals out let’s
00:01:12get the fairies in to clean this up and
00:01:14let’s get our edge around it okay so
00:01:18there you go much nicer can you see
00:01:20what’s happened we’ve just got the
00:01:21kitchen back right and it’s about making
00:01:24this kitchen work and also no matter how
00:01:26big or small your kitchen is I mean this
00:01:28is a medium sized kitchen if it was a
00:01:30bit smaller probably even better in some
00:01:33respects if you go too big it makes life
00:01:35harder and longer bizarrely why don’t
00:01:38you come around here and just see what I
00:01:39see we’ve created a surface here and
00:01:43then you start basically organizing all
00:01:45the stuff that you use all the time to
00:01:46be near you so we’re talking about salt
00:01:48and pepper olive oils we’ve got all of
00:01:51our knives here we’ve got our tongs and
00:01:52stuff that we use all the time pestle
00:01:54and mortar we’ve got our hob space here
00:01:56kind of the stuff like the lemons
00:01:57chilies garlic you know stuff you use to
00:01:59flavor your food all the time is there
00:02:01liquidiser
00:02:02we’ve got the food processor you know it
00:02:05basically means without even moving I’ve
00:02:07got all of this at my access quickly and
00:02:10then sort of up here you know hanging
00:02:12space is brilliant you know all of this
00:02:14stuff
00:02:15got parts quibble pants spiders saves
00:02:18calendars box traitors you’ve got my
00:02:21little nest of pans over here I mean
00:02:23also if you just come around here you
00:02:25know this is important as well however
00:02:26you do it in your own home so I’ve got
00:02:28me oven microwave and I’ve got my kind
00:02:30of trays and roasting bits and pieces
00:02:32here and then I’ve kind of got my pantry
00:02:34stores here it doesn’t have to be in
00:02:36drawers but it could be shelves or it
00:02:38could be stacked up the fridge there all
00:02:40my spices and stuff here you know odds
00:02:42and sods platters stuff that you can
00:02:44bang in the middle of your table and
00:02:46make stuff look beautiful and of course
00:02:48nests of bowls and it’s going to look
00:02:50much bigger here on camera but within
00:02:52kind of two square meters I can do all
00:02:55my cooking reach around get any of my
00:02:57stuff and yes everyone’s kitchens
00:02:59different but the same sort of
00:03:01psychology and sort of clean up and
00:03:03declutter is what it’s all about
